Content

  1. Check the Dashlane icon
  2. Check in the Extensions menu
  3. Check that Dashlane is working in Chrome
  4. Chrome in Windows 8

Check the Dashlane icon

If Dashlane is not working in Chrome, the first thing to check is that you can see the Dashlane icon in your Chrome toolbar. It should be at the top right and marked green for ON.

If it is gray, then check to make sure you are signed in to Dashlane.

If this icon is not there, please make sure Dashlane is Enabled in Chrome's extensions menu. If you're using Windows 8, make sure that you're launching Chrome from the desktop and not from the Windows 8 metro interface

Check in the Extensions menu

If the icon is not here (or grayed-out) then the next place to look is in the Chrome Extensions page. You can access this by clicking on the three lines at the top right of the Chrome toolbar and then going to TOOLS > EXTENSIONS. Or you can go to chrome://extensions

If you see Dashlane here, check to make sure it has been "Enabled". If not, click the button to do so (you may need to restart Chrome after this).

If Dashlane is not here then you should use the Extensions menu in Dashlane to reinstall your browser extensions (if you use Windows). If you use a Mac, go to the menu bar and click Dashlane > Install Browser Extensions.Click here for more info

Check that Dashlane is working in Chrome

To check that your extension is properly working, please visit Outlook.com or Gmail.com.

You should see two impalas in the login form.

If you do not see anything in the fields, please check that your Dashlane icon is "ON" and refresh the page.

These impalas will be blue if you already have a Microsoft account, or gray if you do not have one. For more about impala colors, please refer to this guide

Chrome in Windows 8

If you're using Windows 8 then you need to make sure you're launching the desktop version of Chrome and not the new Windows 8 app version of Chrome. You'll know if you're using this mode because you'll see a black border around Chrome, and Dashlane won't be working here. There won't be any impalas in login fields and the extension will show a loading circle constantly.

It's easy to change this. Click on the three lines the top right of Chrome and then click on Relaunch Chrome on the desktop

Now Chrome will launch in the normal mode from the desktop and Dashlane should work. You'll see the Dashlane impalas in login fields and the Dashlane extension will be working.

From now on, Chrome will launch in this mode and Dashlane will work. You can go back to the Windows 8 mode at any time through the same menu.
