How to Import from LastPass

Everything you save in LastPass can be imported into Dashlane : Passwords, IDs, Notes, Credit cards, Passports, Profiles, Emails, etc...

How to import from LastPass to Dashlane

There are two steps for importing your data from LastPass into Dashlane

Step 1. Exporting from Lasspass and importing all your passwords, credit cards, IDs, notes and all other data

Click on the LastPass plug-in icon from your browser and select Tools → Advanced Tools → Export To → LastPass CSV file in the menu

Enter your LastPass password

Choose a location and file name for the CSV file then click Save. Make sure you do not remove the .csv extension when changing the name of the file. If necessary copy and paste the text as such to an editing application and savec the file using a csv extension

Select the LastPass import function in Dashlane by going to
File → Import → LastPass in the menu

Lastly, select your exported .csv file and click on Import

Here, Dashlane tells you how many passwords and other types of data (IDs, notes, credit cards, etc) have been successfully imported into Dashlane. The other items will be found in the various sections in Dashlane. Credit cards will appear in the Payments section, for example.

Note: if Dashlane can't place an element in one of the sections, then it will place if by default in the Secure Notes section. Please check here for your data.

Step 2. Importing your Form Filling Profiles

Click on the LastPass plug-in icon from your browser and select Tools → Advanced Tools → Export To → Form fill profiles in the menu

Enter your LastPass password

Choose a location and file name for the CSV file then click Save. Make sure you do not remove the .csv extension when changing the name of the file. If necessary copy and paste the text as such to an editing application and savec the file using a csv extension

Select the LastPass import function in Dashlane by going to File → Import→ LastPass in the menu

Lastly, select your exported .csv file and click on Import

Also, don't forget to delete the unsecured exported file when you are done with it.

If Dashlane does not find anything to import

Note: If you saved your passwords to LastPass without the url (website address) these passwords will not import to Dashlane you will have to add them to the csv manually so that Dashlane can import the passwords or add them to Lastpass before exporting

Please open your file and check that the first row looks like this:

  • url,username,password,extra,name,grouping,fav

If you have iterations=500; at the start of the line, please remove the "iterations=500;" from your file, save it and try to import again.

Here is an example of what the first two lines of your file should look like:

  • url,username,password,extra,name,grouping,fav
  • www.facebook.com,me@gmail.com,pass1,note,Facebook,Social Media,0

You might also want to try exporting your passwords in Firefox. Some people have reported that it works from this browser, whereas there are problems using Chrome to export your data.
