You can create Collections and use them to organize your logins and Secure Notes. Collections are like folders. For example, you might create a "Travel" Collection and add logins for hotels, flights, rentals, and travel sites. You might also add a Secure Note for a hotel key code needed.
Note: You can’t add Secure Notes with attachments to Collections.
When you open the Collection, you view all related logins and Secure Notes grouped together. You can create as many Collections as you need and add your logins and Secure Notes to multiple Collections.
If you're an admin or member of a professional plan, you can share Collections of your work logins and Secure Notes with groups and individuals who are part of your organization with Dashlane accounts. However, if you're an admin of a Starter plan, you can share one Collection.

Create a Collection in the web app
You can create new Collections from the Collections section in the left menu. In the web app, Collection names have a 40-character limit, and duplicate names for Collections aren't allowed. You can add logins and Secure Notes to your Collections.
Note: You can’t add Secure Notes with attachments to Collections.
- In the left menu, select the plus (+) icon in the Collections section.
- In the Create new collection pop-up, enter a name for your Collection and select Create. The Create button remains grayed out or inactive until you enter a name.
Your new Collection appears in alphabetical order in the Collections section. After you add items, select a Collection in the list to view the items. If you have both logins and Secure Notes in the Collection, the items are organized in tabs above the list.
You can rename or delete Collections anytime.
You can also create a Collection from an individual login or Secure Note in the web app.
Note: You can’t create a Collection from Secure Notes with attachments.
- In a login or Secure Note's row, select the 3-dot menu and then select Add to a collection.
- In the pop-up, enter a name for your Collection. Or if you previously created Collections, you can select an existing Collection from the list.
- After entering a new Collection, select Enter or Return.
Your new Collection appears in your login or Secure Note's row and in alphabetical order in the left menu in the Collections section.
Add a login or Secure Note to a Collection in the web app
You can also select and add multiple logins or Secure Notes at the same time with "bulk select"
- In your vault, open the login or Secure Note that you want to add to one or more Collections.
- Select + Add a collection. You can add a new Collection name or select an existing Collection from the list that appears. If you haven't created any Collections, no list appears. After adding a new Collection, select Enter or Return.
Note: You can’t add Secure Notes with attachments to Collections. The option appears grayed out or inactive.
- Collections you add appear above + Add a collection. You can continue to add as many Collections as you need.
If you want to remove a login or Secure Note from a Collection, select the X icon. You aren't asked if you want to confirm the removal.
- When you're finished, select Save in the bottom menu. If you don't want to add the Collections to your item, select Cancel and then Discard.
Your Collections also appear in the Collections column in the Logins and Secure Notes lists in your vault. Multiple Collections appear in alphabetical order. When you've added several Collections, select the "more collections" menu in the item's row to view the list of Collections.
Note: If you’re a member of a professional plan and you have the Spaces feature, each Collection is tied to the Space where you created the Collection. If you created a Collection in your Personal Space, that Collection won't appear in your Business Space when you view the existing Collections list.

Add multiple items to a Collection with bulk select in the web app
When you've created or imported many logins and Secure Notes, you can organize those items into Collections with the bulk select function. First, you create or select a Collection, and then you can select multiple logins and Secure Notes you want to add.
Bulk select notes
- Bulk select is available only in the web app and only on Collection pages
- You can’t bulk select and add Secure Notes with attachments to a Collection
- For professional plans:
- For plans with Spaces, you can’t bulk select and add items from both your Personal and Business Spaces in one Collection
- You can choose from only existing shared items with full rights when bulk selecting and adding to an existing shared Collection
- If you create a Collection and add shared items with limited and full rights, you can't share the Collection because you can only share Collections with items with full rights
Bulk select items to add to a Collection
Bulk select is available only on Collection pages. You can bulk select on the Logins or Secure Notes tabs.
- In the left menu, select a Collection or create a new Collection.
- On the Collection page, select + Add items in the upper-right top menu.
- In the pop-up, logins appear first. You can switch to the Secure Notes tab to bulk select and add Secure Notes to the Collection.
- Select the checkboxes next to the items you want to add to the Collection at the same time.
- If a lock icon appears in the checkbox column, you don’t have sufficient permissions to add the shared item to the Collection.
- Use the SHIFT key to select multiple items in order. Select the first item in the list, hold the SHIFT key, and then select the last item. All items between the first and last item are automatically selected.
- Select Add to Collection.
- For professional plans only: If you’re adding items to a shared Collection, select limited or full rights. The same rights apply to all the items in the shared Collection. Select Share.
- Optionally, select the other tab and select the checkboxes next to the items you want to add to the Collection at the same time.
- Select Add to Collection.

Select a Collection's name in the left menu to view the logins and Secure Notes you've added. If you have both logins and Secure Notes in the Collection, the items are organized in tabs above the list.
You can also enter a Collection's name in the search bar at the top of the left menu to view the number of items associated with the Collection's name in a pop-up showing the results. You’ll also see other items that include that name. You can then open the Collection and see all the items associated.
Remove a login or Secure Note from a Collection in the web app
After you add a login or Secure Note to a Collection, you can also remove the item from the Collection while on the Logins or Secure Notes list pages.
- In an item's row, select the 3-dot menu and then select Remove from a collection.
- Select the X next to the item.
The Collection label is removed from the item's row, but the Collection remains in the Collections section in the left menu.
You can also remove an item from the Collection's main page.
Rename or delete Collections in the web app
Open a Collection to edit the name or delete it. Select the 3-dot menu in the upper right and select an option:
- Select Edit to rename the Collection. The Save button is grayed out or inactive until you make a change. Select Save when you're finished.
- Select Delete to remove a Collection that you no longer want in the Collections section. In the Delete collection? pop-up, select Delete again. When you delete a Collection that you no longer need, the action is permanent. The logins and Secure Notes associated with the Collection remain in your vault.
To quickly rename or delete a Collection, select the 3-dot menu next to the Collection in the left menu. A Share option will appear for professional plan members because they can share Collections with other members of their organization.

- On the next screen, you can create a new Collection or select an existing Collection.
- After you start entering a new Collection, Create appears below the text field. When you've entered the Collection name, select Create.
- Select Save. The Collection appears in the Item Organization section of the item's details.
You can continue to add as many Collections as you need or remove a Collection from an item. To begin, select Edit in the login or Secure Note's upper-right corner.
- Select Add another collection. After you're finished, select Save in the upper-right corner. If you don't want to add the Collections to your item, select Cancel.
- If you want to remove a login or Secure Note from a Collection, select the red minus (-) icon next to the Collection you want to remove the item from. Then select Save in the upper-right corner. If you don't want to remove the Collection, select Cancel and then Leave page.
Note: If you’re a member of a professional plan and you have the Spaces feature, each Collection is tied to the Space where you created the Collection. If you created a Collection in your Personal Space, that Collection won't appear in your Business Space when you view the existing Collections list.

The Collection is removed from the item's detail page, but the Collection remains in the Collections section in the left menu.
You can also remove an item from the Collection's main page.

After you select a Collection, you can Edit or Delete the Collection from the 3-dot menu in the upper-right corner. When you delete a Collection that you no longer need, the action is permanent. The logins and Secure Notes associated with the Collection remain in your vault.
- Select Edit to rename the Collection. In the pop-up, make your change and select Save when you're finished.
- Select Delete to remove a Collection that you no longer want in the Collections section. In the Delete collection? pop-up, select Delete again.

- If the item isn't part of a Collection yet, select the plus (+) icon for Collections. If the item is already part of one or more Collections, select Manage collections instead.
- On the next screen, you can create a new Collection or select an existing Collection.
- After you start entering a new Collection, + New collection appears below the text field. When you've entered the Collection name, select + New collection.
- You can repeat the steps to add the item to additional Collections.
- If you opened the edit screen for the item, select the checkmark to save your changes.
Your Collection appears automatically in the item's Collections section. New Collections are also added to the Collections section of your app. You can continue to add the item to as many Collections as you need. You can rename or delete Collections anytime.

You can view the items you've added to a Collection by selecting the three parallel lines to open the side menu and then selecting Collections. Select a Collection to view the items.
You can also enter a Collection name in the search bar at the top of the Home screen to view the items you added to the Collection. Select Cancel to return to the Home screen.
