If you want to use Dashlane on Safari: With the Dashlane Safari extension, you can use more of Dashlane's features and tools without needing to open the separate Dashlane macOS app. You have access to our feature-rich extension pop-up and in-browser vault view, as well as the best Autofill capabilities that Dashlane has to offer.
Get started with the Dashlane Safari extension
Dashlane displays small versions of our company logo whenever a field on a website can be autofilled or saved. The color of the Dashlane D shows what your next step is. A dark green D icon means Dashlane has the information, and a gray D icon means Dashlane doesn't yet have this information.
A gray Dashlane D
A gray D icon means we've detected the field but don't see the appropriate data in your Dashlane account to autofill the field. You can select the gray D icon to add a login to your vault. You can also select the 3-dot menu in the pop-up to autofill something else.
If you have an existing account on this website and want Dashlane to remember your login details, enter your username and password and log in. Dashlane asks if you want to save this data as a new login. Then the login can be autofilled the next time you want to log in to this website.
A dark green Dashlane D
A dark green D icon means we've detected a field and have data stored in your Dashlane account to autofill the field. Click in one of the login fields and choose the item you want to use. You can also select the magnifying glass icon at the top of the list to search for a different item in your vault.
For a login form, Dashlane can log you in automatically.
For a registration form, Dashlane can autofill with the data you've saved in Dashlane.
If the field is for a password field to register on a website or change your password, click in the field and select the button to generate a new password. Dashlane generates and confirms the new password.
Both a gray and a green Dashlane D
As we mentioned earlier, a dark green D icon means Dashlane has the information, and a gray D icon means Dashlane doesn't yet have this information.
If Dashlane can autofill your username or email but shows a gray D icon for your password, select one of your usernames or email addresses in the first field. Then provide your password manually in the second field and log in. Dashlane asks if you want to save this account. You can also select the gray D icon and add a login or autofill something else.
