Summary
Logging into your Dashlane account on a new device
Entering your Dashlane ID and password
If Dashlane is not installed yet, download it and install it. Then if it doesn't open automatically, please do it manually.
The experience you have will vary slightly depending on the device and browser on which you installed Dashlane. For instance, the web app will most likely open on a page that says "Welcome to your simpler life online."
The page will offer to create an account by default, but if you already have one you can click the Log in button at the top right of the window. In the Email field, type in your Dashlane ID, which is the email address you used to first set up Dashlane, then click the Next button. Enter the security code (more details below) and finally your Master Password and click on Log in again.
If you have forgotten your Master Password, click here.
Security code
When you first log in to your account on a given device, Dashlane will require you to authorize this new device. A security code will automatically be sent to you by email.
Check your email address for an email from Dashlane, which typically arrives within about 30 seconds. The security code will be sent to the email address you used when creating your account, unless you specified a different contact email address in the "Preferences" section of the application. If you have set up the two-factor authentication, the code will be provided by your third-party authenticator app instead.
Enter the security code you received in the email and then enter the Master Password in order to finalize the device authentication. To manage the devices authorized to access your Dashlane account, go to My Account > Manage Devices on the web app.
If the security code you received is invalid, you can request a new one by clicking on Resend code.
Since security codes are unique and only valid for 3 hours, please carefully check the time of day we sent it to you to know if you need to request a new one. If you get your security code more than 3 hours after requesting it, even after a few tries, you can change your contact email address as shown on this page.
Then simply attempt to log in to your Dashlane account once again to have a security code sent to this new address. If you need further assistance, please click here to access our step by step resolution guide for possible problems with security codes and two-factor authentication codes.
Further security measures
Two-factor authentication
If you so choose, you can activate two-factor authentication in the Dashlane desktop app’s preferences.
Importantly, when two-factor authentication is activated, Dashlane will no longer send you security codes by email. Instead, you will be able to get a 6-digit security code from the Google Authenticator app or any other third-party authenticator app. This code is automatically generated by this application, and changes every 30 seconds. To get that code, you must use a two-factor authentication app on your phone.
Before activating two-factor authentication, find out more here.
