Logging into your Dashlane account on a new device
Entering your Dashlane ID and password
If Dashlane is not installed yet, download it and install it. Then, launch the application.
The experience you have will vary slightly depending on the device and browser on which you installed Dashlane. For instance, on desktop, you will see one of these two windows:
1) If it is the first time Dashlane is used on this computer, the welcome screen is displayed.
Click on I already have an account on the left.
2) If an account already exists on this computer, the login window will be displayed.
Delete the contents of the Email field. You will now have this window in front of you.
In the Email field, type in your Dashlane ID, which is the email address you used to first set up Dashlane. Then enter your Master Password and click on Log in.
If you have forgotten your Master Password, click here.
After clicking on Log in, Dashlane will require you to authorize access to your account on your computer. A security code will automatically be sent to you by email. For more information on security codes, please click here.
Check your email address for an email from Dashlane, which typically arrives within about 30 seconds. The security code will be sent to the email address you used when creating your account, unless you specified a different contact email address in the "Preferences" section of the application.
Enter the security code you received in the email. Give a name to the device that you'll recognize to make managing your devices easier. To manage the devices authorized to access your Dashlane account, go to My Account > Manage Devices on the web app.
If the security code you received is invalid, you can request a new one by clicking on Where is my code? next to the "Security code" field and selecting Resend.
Since security codes are unique and only valid for 3 hours, please carefully check the time of day we sent it to you to know if you need to request a new one. If you get your security code more than 3 hours after requesting it, even after a few tries, you can change your contact email address as shown on this page.
Then simply attempt to log in to your Dashlane account once again to have a security code sent to this new address. If you need further assistance, please contact us and put "security code problem" in the subject line.
If you do not receive any security code, check that Two-Factor Authentication is disabled.
Supplementary security measures
If you so choose, you can activate Two-Factor Authentication in Dashlane’s preferences.
Importantly, when Two-Factor Authentication is activated, Dashlane will no longer send you security codes by email. Instead, you will be able to get a 6-digit security code from the Google Authenticator app. This code is automatically generated by this application, and changes every 30 seconds. To get that code, you must use a Two-Factor Authentication App such as Google Authenticator on iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod), Android or Blackberry.
Before activating Two-Factor Authentication, we invite you to read this article.
