Summary
Logging into your Dashlane account on a new device
Entering your Dashlane ID and password
If Dashlane is not installed yet, download and install it. If it doesn't open automatically, please open it manually.
The experience you have will vary slightly depending on your device and browser. For example, the web app will most likely open a page that displays "Welcome to your simpler life online."
The page offers to create an account, but if you already have one, you can click the Log in button at the top right of the window.
- In the Email field, type your Dashlane ID (the email address you used to set up Dashlane) and click Next.
- Enter the security code and your Master Password. Learn more about security codes in the next section.
- Click Log in again.
If you've forgotten your Master Password, visit our Master Password troubleshooting guide.
Security code
When you first log in to your account on a given device, Dashlane requires you to authorize this new device and sends a security code by email. Unless you specified a different contact email address in the Preferences section of the application, Dashlane sends the code to the email address you used when creating your account. Check your inbox for an email from Dashlane, which typically arrives within about 30 seconds.
If you have set up the two-factor authentication, the code will be provided by your third-party authenticator app instead.
Enter the security code and then your Master Password to authenticate the device.
To manage the devices authorized to access your Dashlane account, go to My Account > Settings > Manage Logins on the web app.
If the security code you received is invalid, you can request a new one by clicking Resend code.
Because security codes are unique and valid for only 3 hours, please check the time of day we sent it to you to know whether you need to request a new code. If, after trying multiple times, you continue to get your security code more than 3 hours after requesting it, you can change your contact email address.
Attempt to log in to your Dashlane account again to send a security code to this new address. If you need more help, please visit our security code and two-factor authentication (2FA) code troubleshooting guide.
Further security measures
Two-factor authentication
You can activate two-factor authentication (2FA) in the Dashlane Web App's Security Settings.
When you activate 2FA, Dashlane will no longer send you security codes by email. Instead, you get a 6-digit security code from the Google Authenticator app or any other third-party authenticator app. This code is generated automatically by your authenticator app and changes every 30 seconds. To get that code, you must have a 2FA authenticator app on your mobile device.
Before activating two-factor authentication, learn more about protecting your account using two-factor authentication.
