This article is for members of a Dashlane Starter, Team, or Dashlane Business plan.
If you're part of a Dashlane Business plan with single sign-on (SSO) enabled, visit Joining a Dashlane Business plan with SSO enabled
After the admin of your Dashlane Starter, Team, or Business plan has added you to their plan, you’ll receive an email from Dashlane, or a direct link from your admin, inviting you to join.
If you're an admin, visit this article to add and invite members
If you already have a Dashlane account
If you already have a Dashlane account, you'll receive an email from Dashlane inviting you to join the plan. When you select to join, you'll be taken to a webpage that confirms you have now joined the Dashlane plan.
Note: If your admin sends you an invite link directly, and you already have a Dashlane account, you won't be able to join the plan from the link. Instead, join from the invite email you received from Dashlane.
Next, you'll be invited to launch the app, where you'll see a Business Space has been added to your Dashlane account.
If you're new to Dashlane and haven't created an account yet
If you're new to Dashlane and haven't created an account yet, there are two ways that your admin can invite you to the plan:
- An email from Dashlane
- An invite link that they can send directly to you in any type of message
When you select to join, you’re taken to a webpage to create your Dashlane account, and then you need to install the extension to log in to your Dashlane account.
If the Dashlane extension is already installed, you're prompted to create your account there instead.
- Email: Your email address populates automatically and can't be edited. This email address will be your Dashlane login ID, which you'll use to log in to Dashlane on all your devices.
- Password: Create your Master Password, which must contain at least 8 characters, one lowercase letter, one uppercase letter, and one number.
Your Master Password is used to "encrypt" your data. Encryption scrambles your data so that no one can read it. When you enter your Master Password, your data is “decrypted” on your device and available only to you. In the next step, you'll confirm your Master Password.
Make sure you never forget your Master Password. We won't be able to recover or reset your password for you.
After you've confirmed your Master Password, you're taken to download the app and log in to Dashlane.
Turn on the account recovery options available to you
Worried that you might forget your Master Password? We recommend that you turn on the recovery options available to you to make sure you don't lose access to your account.
Important: Nothing fully replaces your Master Password. Dashlane still asks for your Master Password from time to time for security reasons and to make sure you don't forget your password.
Account recovery options
Account recovery key
With Dashlane's recovery key, you can regain access to your Dashlane account without losing any of your data if you forget your Master Password. You'll provide your saved recovery key, complete an identity verification step, change your Master Password, and recover your account.
Setting up a recovery key isn't required, but the key protects you from being permanently locked out of your account. Think of your recovery key as your emergency key to your vault.

Biometric settings
We recommend turning on biometrics and Biometric recovery in the mobile app. Then you can reset your Master Password using your fingerprint or face.
Unlock with biometrics isn't a replacement for your Master Password. Even with biometrics and biometric recovery turned on, we'll ask you to enter your Master Password from time to time.

Admin-assisted recovery if you're a member of a Starter, Team, or Business plan
Admin-assisted recovery is available to members of Starter, Team, and Business plans. With admin-assisted recovery, you can make a request to your admin and, after approval, reset your Master Password without sharing or losing any personal data. To use admin-assisted recovery, you have to turn it on or activate it when prompted before you forget your Master Password.

Having trouble?
If you use the email from Dashlane to join the plan, the link in that email is only valid once. If you're experiencing issues accessing the account creation process from the link, you can create your Dashlane account on the web.
