If your identity is stolen, identity restoration, available only to Premium Plus users in the United States, enables you to quickly speak to experts at TransUnion about your situation, and start the process of getting your identity back on track.
Where in Dashlane do I access my identity restoration?
As a Premium Plus user, you do not need to perform any additional enrollment to benefit from this feature.
The identity restoration feature is found in your Identity Dashboard. There you will see a number to call should you think your identity has been stolen, and the code to provide when you call.
What is identity theft, and what to do if your identity is stolen?
Identity theft is when your personal information, including credit card numbers or your SocialSecurity number, are used to obtain new credit cards, loans or other benefits, to avoid criminal punishment, or simply to harm the person or their reputation.
Often the person whose identity has been stolen does not realize their personal and financial identity has been usurped until they see the consequences.
If you think your identity has been stolen:
On your Identity Dashboard, note the phone number and Dashlane code listed under Identity restoration.
The phone number will connect you to a TransUnion representative, who will help you assess the extent of your identity theft and guide you through the process of restoring your identity.
TransUnion will send you an "Identity Theft Toolkit" which contains a checklist with resources and forms you will need to complete the process and report your identity theft to law enforcement.
An initial, shorter fraud alert may be placed on your credit report, and once your request has been successfully filed you may have an extended, 7-year fraud alert placed on your credit report. Once authorized, TransUnion will also inform the other two main credit reporting agencies on your behalf.
Further services include a full review of your credit report over the past 12 months, as well as credit maintenance to remove fraudulent information from your credit report.
As a Premium Plus user, you also have access to Identity Theft Insurance.
