In the event of identity theft, Premium Plus customers in the United States have access to identity restoration services through TransUnion. Experts at TransUnion can discuss your situation and help you get control of your identity.
What is identity theft?
Identity theft is when someone uses your personal information to commit fraud.
For example, this person might use your social security number to get a new credit card, qualify for a loan, or avoid criminal punishment. Or they might steal your bank card information to buy things or transfer money to themselves.
Often the victim doesn't realize at first that someone has stolen their identity.
Access identity restoration
As a Premium Plus customer, you have automatic access to this service. Select the Premium Plus tab in the Security Tools section. If you think someone has stolen your identity, call the phone number in the section Identity restoration by TransUnion and prepare to provide the agent with your Dashlane code.
The phone number connects you to a TransUnion representative, who guides you through the process of restoring your identity.
TransUnion sends you an Identity Theft Toolkit containing a checklist and resources. The kit will also show you how to report your identity theft to law enforcement. As part of this process, you might have a fraud alert placed on your credit report.
The identity restoration service also includes these features:
- The option for TransUnion to tell the other credit reporting agencies about your identity theft
- A full review of your credit over the past 12 months
- A credit maintenance service that removes fraudulent information from your credit report
As a Premium Plus customer, you also have access to identity theft insurance.
