Using your Windows fingerprint scanner to unlock Dashlane

We're happy to announce that Dashlane now supports fingerprint authentication for its Windows app.

Windows users are now able to unlock Dashlane with the fingerprint reader on their PC. Note that to manage your biometric information, this feature uses Windows Hello on the latest versions of Windows 10, or else uses the Windows Biometrics Framework on Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and older versions of Windows 10.

Using Windows Hello

If you've never used Windows Hello before, you must register your fingerprint in Windows Hello for it to work with Dashlane.

Once you have fingerprint authentication enabled on your PC, on your second login to Dashlane you will be prompted to use Windows Hello to authenticate in Dashlane.

Otherwise, you can manually enable it by going to Tools > Preferences > Security, and then enabling "Unlock with Windows Hello"

Remember, you will be asked to re-enter your Master Password every 14 days, or if you add new fingers to Windows Hello.

Once it's set up, you can use your fingerprint authentication to log in to Dashlane, or whenever you're promoted to unlock password-protected information within the app.

When you need to authenticate, you will see a popup like the one below. Use your fingerprint, and the job is done!
