We’re updating Dashlane on desktop to be a web-first app. We call it the Dashlane web app, and it works together with your updated extension. This means that soon you’ll be able to access all Dashlane’s main features right in your browser—without needing a desktop app at all. That means no more desktop clutter—and a faster, more flexible Dashlane app—while maintaining the same key features and level of security you rely on us to provide.
Note that Dashlane on mobile is not impacted by this. The web app is about improving your desktop experience!

What is the web app?
The Dashlane web app lives entirely within your browser extension. Dashlane will go on autofilling your passwords and credit cards, just as before. Most of the time you won't notice any difference with your previous experience, except perhaps the improved autofill and overall performance.
But now you can access all of Dashlane's key features, simply by clicking on the browser extension icon. And if you need to, open the web app from the extension to get a more detailed view and wider set of features.
It may reassure you to know that the web app has been used by many of our longtime users, who will recognize the experience as being in "Standalone mode." The web-first experience is based on the same zero-knowledge architecture as we use for the desktop app—and in some ways Dashlane is more secure than ever before.
Why a new version of Dashlane?
In a nutshell, performance where it matters most. We realized we could make Dashlane shine, and innovate more quickly, by focusing our efforts on one platform instead of two. This new Dashlane app means we can finally innovate in ways we couldn't with our desktop apps.
First and foremost, we wanted to establish our autofill as the best in the business, to give our users what they need where and when they need it, and develop other exciting features—all without sacrificing security or ease of use.
This is just the beginning. In addition to improvements to features like autofill, we’ll gradually be rolling out updates until all your favorite features are available in your browser, and more.
How to get the web app
For our newest users, or for users who have already made the change on their own, there's nothing for you to do. We're rolling the web app out to the rest of our users progressively, so if you haven't yet made the change or just aren't sure, see these instructions on how to make the change.
Note that the web app is available in all major browsers, including Chromium-based browsers such as Opera and Brave. Safari users should use Dashlane for Safari—our guide will let you know what to do!
