You can create a shortcut to our web app for quick access to Dashlane from your computer desktop. With a shortcut, you can also access the web app without logging in to the Dashlane extension.
You can create a universal shortcut in any browser. A universal shortcut opens the Dashlane web app in your default browser—no matter which browser you used to create the shortcut.
In some browsers, you can create an advanced shortcut or a basic shortcut, both of which have the feel of a separate desktop app.
Before you create the shortcut: For your shortcut to work properly, you must turn off the Dashlane extension in your browser before you begin. Make sure to turn on the extension again after you're done. For steps to turn off the extension, select your default browser:

Create a universal shortcut
A universal shortcut opens the Dashlane web app opens in your default browser—no matter which browser you used to create the shortcut. If you get an error when using the shortcut, make sure that you've set a default browser in your computer's system preferences.
To create a universal shortcut on any device in any browser.
- Open app.dashlane.com in your browser.
- Reduce the size of the browser window so that you can see part of your desktop.
- For most browsers, select the View site information icon, shown as a lock, directly to the left of the browser's address bar. If you're using Safari, select the entire web address in your browser bar.
- Drag the icon or the web address onto your desktop. A shortcut appears on your desktop.
Note: On Apple devices, you can add the shortcut to your dock. Drag the icon from your desktop to the right side of the divider bar in your dock. When you add the icon to your dock, the icon also remains on your desktop. You can drag the desktop icon to the trash.
Tip: On Windows devices, we recommend making one small change for security purposes after you create the shortcut. Right-click on the shortcut, select Properties and then change the URL to https://app.dashlane.com.

Create an advanced shortcut
On certain browsers, you can create advanced shortcuts. These shortcuts have the feel of a separate desktop app. Select the device you're using to see steps for creating an advanced shortcut.
On Windows, you can create advanced shortcuts in Chrome, Edge, Brave, and Vivaldi.
- Right-click on your desktop or in any folder. Select New and then Shortcut.
- In the field of the pop-up that opens, enter the text from the table for the browser you're using. Be sure to include all punctuation marks.
What browser are you using? Enter this text: Google Chrome "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --app=https://app.dashlane.com Microsoft Edge "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge_proxy" --app=https://app.dashlane.com Brave "C:\Program Files (x86)\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\Application\brave.exe" --app=https://app.dashlane.com Vivaldi "C:\Program Files (x86)\Vivaldi\Application\vivaldi.exe" --app=https://app.dashlane.com Note: This text is the default location of the app when you download your browser. The words and phrases between the backslashes each refer to a folder on your computer. If the text doesn't work, try deleting " (x86)". If you installed your browser in a custom location on your computer, enter that location.
- Select Next.
- Name your shortcut (for example, "Dashlane") and select Finish.
Example using the browser Chrome:
On Mac, you can create advanced shortcuts in Chrome.
- Open app.dashlane.com in your browser.
- Select the 3-dot menu. Then select Save and Share and Create Shortcut.
- Name your shortcut (for example, "Dashlane").
- Select the Open as window checkbox and select Create.
- In the pop-up that opens, right-click the Dashlane D in the dock. Then select Options and then Keep in Dock.
Create a basic shortcut
On Windows, you can create basic shortcuts for certain browsers. These shortcuts have the feel of a separate desktop app and are easier to make than advanced shortcuts. However, unlike advanced shortcuts, your browser needs to be open for the basic shortcut to work. The shortcut works best when you're signed in to your extension.
To see steps for creating a basic shortcut, select your browser.
- Open app.dashlane.com in your browser.
- Select the 3-dot menu. Then select More tools and Create shortcut.
- Name the shortcut ("Dashlane" by default), select the Open as window checkbox, and select Create.
- A pop-up opens. Right-click the Dashlane D in your taskbar for the pop-up and select Pin to taskbar.
- Open app.dashlane.com in your browser.
- Select the 3-dot menu and hover over Apps.
- Select Install this site as an app.
- Open app.dashlane.com in your browser.
- Select the Customize and control Brave menu, shown as three lines. Then select More tools and Create shortcut.
- Name the shortcut ("Dashlane" by default), select the Open as window checkbox, and select Create.
- A pop-up opens. Right-click the Dashlane D in your taskbar for the pop-up and select Pin to taskbar.
