This article helps you solve problems with the Dashlane extension and make sure your extension is working. Select the browser you're using to see how to check your extension.
Check your Dashlane extension in Firefox
Start by looking for the Dashlane D in your browser toolbar. The D icon is green if you're logged in and orange if you're not logged in.
I don't see the Dashlane D in Firefox
If you don't see the Dashlane D in your browser toolbar, check your extensions menu.
In newer versions of Firefox, select the extension icon in the toolbar, shown as a puzzle piece.
In earlier versions of Firefox, select the Open application menu icon, shown as three horizontal lines. Then select Add-ons and themes.
If you've installed the Dashlane extension, you'll see it listed in the menu.
Pin the extension to your toolbar
You can pin the Dashlane D to your browser toolbar so that the extension is always visible.
In newer versions of Firefox, select the extension icon in the toolbar, shown as a puzzle piece. Then right-click the Dashlane extension and select Pin to Toolbar.
In earlier versions of Firefox, right-click the toolbar and select Customize Toolbar. Then drag the Dashlane D to the toolbar and select Done.

- Enter the security code sent to your email or mobile device if asked. Select Continue.
- Enter your Master Password and select Log in.
A green Dashlane D appears in the browser toolbar, and the extension opens when you select the D icon.

Check your Dashlane extension in Safari
If you use Safari as your browser: Dashlane now uses macOS native autofill for the web app in Safari. For a better autofill experience, you must set up the alternative autofill solution. This solution lets Dashlane autofill your usernames and passwords but not other fields like your address, phone number, or payment information. To autofill all types of data, you must use Dashlane in another supported browser.

Start by looking for the Dashlane D in your browser toolbar. Unless you've chosen custom colors for your extension, the D icon is dark gray if you're logged in and light gray if you're not logged in.
I don't see the Dashlane D in Safari
If you don't see the Dashlane D in your browser toolbar, check your extensions menu. From the Safari browser menu, select Preferences or Settings, depending on your macOS version.
Then select Extensions in the top menu of the pop-up. If you've installed the Dashlane extension, you'll see it in the extensions menu.

A light gray D icon means you have the extension, but you're not logged in. You need to log in to access your account or autofill information with Dashlane.
- Select the light gray Dashlane D. Then select Open the app in the Dashlane extension.
- Select Log in in the pop-up that opens and enter your email address. Select Next.
- Enter the security code sent to your email or mobile device if asked. Select Continue.
- Enter your Master Password and select Log in.
A dark-gray Dashlane D appears in the browser toolbar, and the extension opens when you select the D icon.

Note: In the recent versions of Safari, you can choose the colors of your extensions in the appearance settings of your Apple device. Whatever color you choose, the D icon is a light shade when you aren't logged in to Dashlane.

I don't have the latest version of the Dashlane Safari app
For Dashlane to work in Safari, you must have the latest app version. Go to the extension settings in Safari.

The latest version of the Dashlane Safari app is listed as Dashlane. Any outdated apps are called Dashlane - Legacy or Dashlane for Safari - Legacy.
If both the new and old apps are installed, select the checkbox for the current app and clear all other checkboxes.If you only have an older version of the app, you need to install the latest Dashlane Safari app:
- Go to the App Store and search for "Dashlane."
- Select Get and then Install. You'll need to enter your Apple ID password.
- Select Open.
- In the pop-up that opens, select Open Safari.
- In the Safari menu, select Preferences.
- In the pop-up that opens, select Extensions.
