When you share items, you choose whether you want the people you share with to have one of four permission levels. When you choose a permission level that includes "edit," the recipients can change the login’s password, and any other information in the login, Secure Note, or secret. Secrets are available only to admins and members of organizations with Password Management.
- Full access: The recipient has full control over the item, including the ability to autofill, reveal the password, copy, edit, and share the item with others. Recipients with this level of access can also manage sharing for other people and even revoke your access.
- Can edit: The recipient can autofill, reveal the password, copy, and edit the item. However, they can’t share the item with other people.
- Can view: The recipient can view and copy item fields, but they can’t edit or share the item. Secrets and Secure Notes are always viewable.
- Can autofill: This permission level is designed for logins only. The recipient can autofill the shared login, but can’t see the password in plain text. The recipient can't share the password with others. For other item types, such as Secure Notes and secrets, permissions will be set to Can view because their content is always viewable.
You can share multiple item types in one action. After you make selections, the pop-up shows what each permission level means for each item type.
For secrets and Secure Notes, you can choose from three permission levels because you can't autofill the information for either item type. Secrets are available only to admins and members of organizations with Password Management.
Important: If you don’t want someone to view or edit your login, we recommend that you don't share the login. Even when the password is hidden by dots, a determined, technically savvy person may still be able to reveal the actual password.
