This article explains the best practice for migrating data from one Starter, Team, or Business account to a new Starter, Team, or Business account with a new email address.
Because Dashlane doesn't currently allow plan members to change the username on their Dashlane account, they will need to migrate the data from the old account to a new account when the email domain name needs to change.
The steps in this article use the following example scenario: A company wants to migrate MemberA@company.com to log in to Dashlane with a new email address of MemberA@company2.com and no longer use MemberA@company.com.

Let's say MemberA is part of three sharing groups and also has individual sharing relationships.
The Dashlane admin and plan members must take the following steps:
Initial steps the Dashlane admin must complete
- Create or add an alias email address for the plan member that they can access.
Example: Give MemberA access to the alias account MemberA@company2.com.
- Reach out to your customer success manager (if you have one) or email@example.com to discuss licensing for a migration.
- Invite the alias account to your Dashlane Starter, Team, or Business plan.
Example: Invite MemberA@company2.com.
- Add the alias account to the same sharing groups the member's original account belongs to.
Example: Add MemberA@company2.com to each sharing group MemberA@company.com belongs to.
Steps each member must complete
- The member accepts the invite for the new account and creates a Master Password for their new Dashlane account.
Example: MemberA uses MemberA@company2.com to accept the invite and creates a Master Password for their new account.
- The member logs in to their old account.
Example: MemberA logs in to their old Dashlane account using MemberA@company.com.
- The member shares all logins in their current vault with Full rights with their new account.
Example: MemberA shares all logins in their MemberA@company.com vault with Full rights with their new account MemberA@company2.com.
- The member changes any Limited rights sharing to Full rights sharing.
The member can also revoke any limited rights shares to groups and reshare them from the new account, noting any accounts they'll need to reshare with limited rights.
- The member notes any credit card or personal information they may want to enter into the new account or adds it to a secure note and shares it to the new account.
- The member logs in to Dashlane using the new account.
Example: MemberA logs in using MemberA@company2.com.
- The member accepts the sharing invite from their old Dashlane account.
Example: MemberA accepts the sharing invite from MemberA@company.com.
- The member accepts all group sharing invites in their new account.
Example: MemberA accepts all sharing invites in MemberA@company2.com.
- The member verifies their new account has access to all accounts and sharing groups.
Example: MemberA verifies MemberA@company2.com has access to all accounts and sharing groups they had access to in MemberA@company.com.
The new Dashlane account is ready for use!
Final steps the Dashlane admin must complete
We recommend keeping both accounts live for 30-90 days in case any items were missed during the migration.
- You must remove the member's old email.
Example: The admin removes MemberA's old email, MemberA@company.com.
- You must reach out to your customer success manager (if you have one) or firstname.lastname@example.org to revoke unused licenses.
