You can use the search bar in the Dashlane web app, extension pop-up, and mobile apps to find your passwords and data faster.
To search for a login in the Dashlane mobile iOS (Apple) and Android apps, search for words present in the Account Details, like the Name, Email, Login, Note, or Website. To search for a Secure Note, search for words present in the Note Details.
Tips for better search results
The search bars in the web app and extension pop-up work differently than on the mobile apps. Dashlane is working to improve this search experience so that it works similarly to the mobile app. In the meantime, use these tips for more accurate search results.
- If you’re a member of a Dashlane Starter, Team, or Business plan, make sure you’re searching in the right Space, where the login you’re searching for is saved.
- To search for a specific login, search for words present in the Name first. Then, search for words present in the Email and Note.
- If you want a specific login to appear at the top of your search results, add a special keyword to the Name or Note. Make that keyword unique to that login and easy to remember.
Example: Add the words “personal email” into the Name or Note of your login to make sure it appears at the top when you search “personal email.”
- You can search for just one word in the special keywords you added
Example: Just “personal” or just “email”
- Don’t search for a special keyword you added plus a keyword from a different field
Example: Don’t mix a keyword from Name with a keyword from Note
- You can search for just one word in the special keywords you added
- Spell your search keyword exactly as it’s saved. Don’t add extra spaces or hyphens.
- If you can’t find a specific login, open the website for that login, open the Dashlane extension pop-up, and look in the Suggested section of the Vault tab. Dashlane recognizes the website you have open and can suggest the right login. Then, you can use the previous tip to add a special keyword so you can easily search for it next time.
