How autofill works
What do the different Dashlane D icon colors mean for autofill?
Dashlane displays small versions of our company logo whenever a field on a website can be autofilled or saved. The color of the Dashlane D shows what your next step is. A dark green D icon means Dashlane has the information, and a gray D icon means Dashlane doesn't yet have this information.
When you log in to a website on your Android, iPhone, or iPad, Dashlane D icons don't appear in form fields.

A dark green Dashlane D
A dark green D icon means we've detected a field and have data stored in your Dashlane account to autofill the field. Select the D icon in one of the login fields and choose the item you want to use. You can also select the magnifying glass icon at the top of the list to search for a different item in your vault.
For a login form, Dashlane can automatically log you in.
For a registration form, Dashlane can autofill with the data you've saved in Dashlane.
If the field is for a password field to register on a website or change your password, select the D icon in the field and select Use generated password.
In the pop-up, select Replace next to your email address or username to save the new password in Dashlane. You'll receive a Login updated pop-up to confirm the change.
A gray Dashlane D
A gray D icon means we've detected the field, but don't see the appropriate data in your Dashlane account to autofill the field. You can select the gray D icon to add a login to your vault. Make sure to create your login on the website with the info generated in Dashlane.
You can also select the Autofill options icon, shown as three lines in the pop-up, to autofill something else.
If you have an existing account on this website and want Dashlane to remember your login details, enter your username and password and log in. Dashlane asks if you want to save this data as a new login. Then the login can be autofilled the next time you want to log in to this website.

Does Dashlane support passkeys?
Yes. Dashlane customers can now use passkeys instead of passwords to log in to compatible sites and apps.
If you log in to a website that uses passkeys while logged in to the latest version of the Dashlane browser extension, we'll ask you if you want to register and save a passkey. When you go back to a website with a passkey saved in Dashlane, we'll ask you if you want to log in using the passkey.

Configuring autofill
Can Dashlane autofill Basic and Digest HTTPS authentication pop-ups?
Yes. Dashlane can log you into your accounts using HTTPS Basic and Digest Authentication. After you save the login in Dashlane, Dashlane logs you in automatically whenever you visit the website.
This works best with only one login saved per website and is currently available only in Chrome and Firefox for secured websites—https, not http.
I don't want to use autofill. Can I still save my logins in Dashlane?
If Dashlane behaves in a way you don't expect or you don't want Dashlane to display the autofill menu with your data, you can turn off autofill for certain types of information. You can still access all of your logins and data in your vault. When you want to use any of your logins, open Dashlane, copy the information, and paste it into the website fields.
Turn off autofill for a website, form field, or specific vault items
Due to a limitation on Safari’s side, the copy and paste pop-ups for entering vault information without autofill are unavailable with the Dashlane browser extension for Safari. Instead, you can use the right-click menu to autofill your username, password, payment info, or other data stored in your vault, in any field.

Dashlane isn't working on a specific website. What can I do?
We do our best to handle all websites. But sometimes, the way a website is built means Dashlane may not be able to log you in automatically or save your login details.
