If you no longer need to protect a specific login with 2-factor authentication (2FA), you can turn off 2FA for that login. First, turn off 2FA directly on the website or app that you've protected with 2FA. Then, remove 2FA from the login in Dashlane.
Turn on 2FA for a login stored in Dashlane
Log in to an account stored in Dashlane with 2FA turned on
Overview: 2FA in Dashlane
Step 1: Turn off 2FA on the website or app
Important: Be sure to turn off 2FA on the website or app before you remove 2FA from the login in Dashlane. Otherwise, you risk getting locked out of your account.
-
Open the website or app that you protected with 2FA and go to its security settings. Look for the 2-factor authentication or 2FA option. You can usually find this option in a section related to Security, Login, Authentication, or Account access. Some websites use Logins and Security or Account security.
Note: Some websites call 2FA 2-step verification or 2-step authentication. They might also call a 2FA token a code, a security code, or a one-time password (OTP). The support site for the login usually has more information about the 2FA setting.
- Turn off 2FA. If the website asks for a 6-digit 2FA token, copy one from the login's details in Dashlane and enter it.
- After the website confirms that you've turned off 2FA for the account, log out of the website.
