You can secure your GitHub account with passkeys in Dashlane in two easy steps:
- Create a passkey in your GitHub settings. You'll store the passkey in your Dashlane vault in the process.
- Sign in to GitHub with your passkey wherever you use Dashlane.

- Make sure you're logged in to the Dashlane extension.
- Sign in to GitHub using your existing password.
- Select the GitHub account menu icon in the upper right corner.
- Select Settings in the account menu.
- Select Password and authentication in the side menu.
- In the Passkeys section, select Add a passkey again.
- Select Add a passkey.
- Select Confirm in the Dashlane pop-up.
- Some websites require an extra verification step. In these cases, we ask you to enter your Master Password. If biometric unlock is turned on, you can use biometrics or your device PIN code for this step instead.
- GitHub asks you to name your passkey. Enter a name and select Done.
- We save your passkey to your Dashlane account.

- Make sure you're logged in to the Dashlane extension.
- Open GitHub and select Sign in. Then select Sign in with a passkey.
- Select Confirm in the Dashlane pop-up.

To use passkeys, make sure you have the latest version of Android.

- Open the GitHub app and select Sign in with GitHub.
- Select Sign in with a passkey.
- Dashlane asks you if you want to use your passkey. Select Sign in.
- We log you in to your GitHub account.

Create a passkey for GitHub with the Dashlane iPhone app
- Make sure you're logged in to the Dashlane iPhone app.
- Make sure you've selected Dashlane to autofill your data on iPhone.
- Open a browser on your iPhone. Then go to github.com and sign in using your existing GitHub password.
- Select the GitHub account menu icon in the upper right corner.
- Select Settings in the account menu.
- Select Password and authentication from the menu.
- In the Passkeys section, select Add a passkey again.
- On the next page, select Add passkey.
- In the pop-up, select Continue.
- GitHub asks you to name your passkey. Enter a name and select Done.
- We save your passkey to your Dashlane account.

- Make sure you're logged in to the Dashlane iPhone app.
- Make sure you've selected Dashlane to autofill your data on iPhone.
- Open the GitHub app and select Sign in.
- A pop-up asks for permission to use github.com to sign in. Select Continue.
- Select Sign in with a passkey.
- In the pop-up, select Continue.
- We log you in to your GitHub account.

Dashlane helps you manage passkeys for all websites and apps that use them. However, some sites and apps only allow you to create and use passkeys on certain platforms.
