Members of Dashlane Starter, Team, and Business plans who use single sign-on (SSO) don't have a Master Password to change. SSO means you use one login application to access Dashlane and other work accounts. Instead of a Master Password, you use your regular work password to log in to Dashlane. If you don't know whether you have SSO, ask your manager or plan admin.
Your Master Password is the only password you need to remember when using Dashlane. And the most important thing you can do to keep your account secure is to create a strong Master Password.
You want a Master Password that is long, unique, and difficult to guess. If you think you have a weak or easy-to-guess Master Password, you can change it anytime. Remember to make your Master Password as strong as possible.
More about the Dashlane Master Password
Before you start
Before you change your Master Password, review this information:
- Dashlane logs you out of all devices when you change your Master Password. You need to log in to each device with your new Master Password. We'll authenticate the device again by sending a new verification code to the email address or phone you use with your Dashlane account.
Use Dashlane on a new device - When you change your Master Password, your account recovery key is no longer valid. You need to generate a new key and store it in a safe place.
Set up your account recovery key - We also turn off the Biometric recovery setting when you change your Master Password. If you want to be able to reset your Master Password with your face or fingerprint, you need to turn on this setting again.
Reset your Master Password with biometric recovery on your mobile device - Before you create a new Master Password, we recommend you back up your data in a secure DASH file. Then if you forget your new Master Password, you have another way to recover your data.
