You can quickly and securely unlock Dashlane on your iOS (Apple) device with your Touch ID or Face ID, which is called biometric authentication. You can only turn on either Touch ID or Face ID at one time in your device settings. You can also use a PIN code to unlock our app—alone or as a backup for Touch ID or Face ID.
Dashlane still asks you to enter your Master Password after restarting your device and from time to time for security reasons.
Note: If you're a Dashlane Business plan member who logs in using single sign-on (SSO), you can use Touch ID, Face ID, or your PIN to log in instead of using the SSO sign-in process. SSO means you use one login application to access Dashlane and other work accounts. If you don't know whether you have SSO, ask your manager or plan admin.

Common questions
Do unlock methods replace my Master Password?
No, the unlock methods in this article don't completely replace your Master Password. For security reasons, you'll need to enter your Master Password every 14 days or whenever you log in after logging out of your account manually.
You also need your Master Password to view or autofill logins or Secure Notes if you've turned on the setting Require Master Password for that item.
More about requiring your Master Password
You might need to enter your Master Password when you change some settings—like adding a new fingerprint and changing your Master Password.
If you're a member of a Dashlane Business plan who logs in using single sign-on (SSO), you can use your biometrics or a PIN instead of the SSO sign-in process to log in on your mobile device.
Do unlock methods replace 2-factor authentication (2FA)?
No, you can use the unlock methods in this article instead of your 2FA token and Master Password in some situations. But if you've turned on 2FA, you may still need to enter a 2FA token to open the app when you log out and log back in again.
What devices can I use to unlock my app with my biometrics or a PIN?
On iOS devices, you can use Face ID with Phone X and later. You also need the Dashlane iOS app version 6.2152.0 or later to set up a backup PIN after turning on Touch ID or Face ID. If you have an earlier version of the app, you need to turn off one option to turn on the other.
Why was I asked to enter my Master Password after turning on an unlock method?
If you manually log out of your Dashlane account with an unlock method turned on, Dashlane automatically turns off this setting. You must enter your Master Password the next time you log in and then turn on the setting again.
Turn on biometric unlock again
With this setting, you're only locking and unlocking your app using biometrics or a PIN, not logging in and logging out each time. When you log out manually, your account is no longer locked, so you must enter your Master Password to log in and then turn on the setting again.
Do you need to reset your Master Password?
