Biometrics refers to the use of your face or fingerprint to access an account. In some cases, you can use biometric login with passkeys. For example, if you save a passkey on an Apple device, you can use Face ID or Touch ID to log in.
When you use Dashlane to store a passkey, you won't always use biometrics to log in to the account you're trying to access. Generally, when you log in with a passkey stored in Dashlane, you'll see a pop-up asking if you want to log in. You select Confirm to access your account.
Some websites and apps require an extra step called "user verification" when you log in with a passkey. For these sites and apps, you'll be asked to use your biometrics when you log in if you've turned on biometric unlock. If not, we'll ask you for your PIN or Master Password instead.
We recommend turning on biometric unlock to make logging in with a passkey faster and easier.
