We’re updating our cryptographic standards to better protect your data in Dashlane. For security reasons, all vaults using the PBKDF2 algorithm will be migrated to the Argon2d algorithm by June 15, 2026. Argon2d is designed to provide maximum protection against brute force attacks on your vault.

When is the migration happening?
Vault migrations from PBKDF2 to Argon2d are happening automatically from April 8 to June 15, 2026.
Why haven’t I received an email about this?
Dashlane will send an email on or after April 2nd, 2026, in advance of migrating your account. If you're part of a professional plan and you're not using Argon2d yet, Dashlane will send an email to all admins of the plan in advance of the migration of the accounts.
Do I need to do anything?
The migration will occur automatically and take effect if you have the latest version of the app, and when you log out and log back in to your account. If your account hasn’t yet been migrated to Argon2d and if you want to migrate it immediately, you can do so with a few simple steps.
If you have a personal plan:
- Select the Dashlane D icon in your browser's toolbar and enter your Master Password if prompted. Then in the extension pop-up, select Open the web app.
-
Open the Vault menu in the top left of the app. Select Settings and then Security settings.
-
Scroll down and select Cryptography and then Argon2d (Recommended).
If you're an admin of a professional plan:
- Select the Dashlane D icon in your browser's toolbar and enter your Master Password if prompted. Then, in the extension pop-up, select Admin and Open Admin Console.
-
In the Admin Console, go to Policies and under Cryptography select Enforce Argon2d for all plan members (Recommended).
- Please advise all plan members to log out and log back in to their accounts to ensure the migration to Argon2d is effective.
