We offer VPN protection with Dashlane Premium and Premium Plus, and Dashlane Team, Business, and Business Plus plans. Dashlane Friends & Family plan managers have VPN access, but members invited to the plan don't.
A virtual private network (VPN) provides an extra layer of protection for your online life. You can browse the internet from an unsecure network and generally increase your privacy online.
We partner with Hotspot Shield to provide their Premium VPN service and 24/7 Tech Support. You can set up your Hotspot Shield Premium account directly from your Dashlane app.
Note: If your Dashlane plan includes access to the Hotspot Shield VPN, you can use the VPN on up to five devices. If you already have five devices linked to your VPN account, you won't be able to sign in on a new device until you sign out of Hotspot Shield on another device.
Who can use the Hotspot Shield VPN?
If your plan includes VPN access, the VPN tab appears in the menu of your Dashlane app. These customers have VPN access:
- Members of Dashlane Premium or Premium Plus plans
- Members of Dashlane Team, Business, or Business Plus plans if the plan admin turns on
- Managers of Dashlane Friends & Family plans
These customers don't have VPN access:
- Members of Dashlane Free account
- Members of Dashlane Starter and Standard plans
- Members of Dashlane Friends & Family plan who aren't managers on the plan
- Members of a Dashlane Premium trial or a plan provided as part of a partnership program, such as special student offers

Use the Hotspot Shield VPN
To use the VPN, make sure you've set up your Hotspot Shield account through Dashlane. Then turn on the VPN and use the internet like you normally do. With the VPN turned on, you've added an extra layer of protection to your online life.

Set up your Hotspot Shield VPN account through Dashlane
Set up the Hotspot Shield VPN from the web app
- Select VPN in the Tools section of the menu.
Note: If the VPN section is grayed out, your Dashlane plan doesn't include a VPN. The Hotspot Shield VPN comes with Dashlane Premium and the manager account of the Dashlane Friends & Family plan.
- Enter the email address you want to use with Hotspot Shield. Dashlane autofills your account contact email, but you can choose another email address.
- Read Hotspot Shield's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Select the I agree checkbox and then Activate account. Dashlane automatically creates a secure password for the account.
- Next, download the Hotspot Shield app. Go to the box named Install Hotspot Shield, and select Get the app.

Set up the Hotspot Shield VPN from the Android app
- Select VPN in the Tools section of the menu.

- On the Virtual private network screen, select Activate account.
- Enter the email address you want to use with Hotspot Shield. Dashlane autofills your account contact email, but you can choose another email address.
- After reading Hotspot Shield's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, select the I agree checkbox and then Confirm. Dashlane automatically creates a secure password for the account.
- Next, download the Hotspot Shield app by selecting Get the App on the VPN page. You can also search for the Hotspot Shield app in your mobile device app store.

The Hotspot Shield VPN is available with Dashlane Premium and the manager account of the Dashlane Friends & Family plan. The VPN isn't included with any other plans.
- In the Dashlane iPhone app, select Tools in the bottom menu and select VPN.
- On the next screen, select Set up VPN.
- Enter the email address you want to use with Hotspot Shield. Dashlane autofills your account contact email, but you can choose another email address.
- After reading Hotspot Shield's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, select the I agree checkbox and then Confirm. Dashlane automatically creates a secure password for the account.
- Next, download the Hotspot Shield app by selecting Launch Hotspot Shield on the Virtual private network screen.

- Select Set up VPN.
- Enter the email address you want to use with Hotspot Shield. Dashlane autofills your account contact email, but you can choose another email address.
- After reading Hotspot Shield's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, select the I agree checkbox and then Confirm. Dashlane automatically creates a secure password for the account.
- Next, download the Hotspot Shield app by selecting Launch Hotspot Shield on the Virtual private network screen.

Set up the VPN for Team, Business, or Business Plus plans
Admins can set up the VPN for their Team, Business, or Business Plus plan members. Open the Admin Console, select Settings, then Policies. Then select Security and turn on the VPN setting.
Plan members need to log in again before they see the VPN feature in their accounts.
Turn on your Hotspot Shield VPN on your computer, phone, or tablet
Open the Hotspot Shield app and select Sign in. Then enter the email address and password saved in the VPN section of your Dashlane app.
You can use the Copy button next to your Hotspot Shield login info in the Dashlane app. Or you can use Dashlane's Autofill feature to enter your login info automatically.
After you're signed in, select the power button to turn on your VPN.
Sign out of the Hotspot Shield VPN
- Sign in to your account on the Hotspot Shield website
- In the Home section of the side menu, select Hotspot Shield VPN.
- Select Unlink for the device you want to remove.
You can also remove a linked device by signing out of your Hotspot Shield account on the device you want to remove.

With Hotspot Shield Premium, you have access to 24/7 tech support. The Hotspot Shield support team can help with issues related to your connection and internet speed and answer general questions about your VPN.
On the Hotspot Shield website, select Support to access answers to common questions. If you're signed in to Hotspot Shield, you can also select Live Chat or Email Us to connect directly to their support team.
