Dashlane helps you autofill your data on your computer and in your mobile device apps. We recommend that you update to the latest version of Dashlane and set up your Apple device to use Dashlane as your password manager. Then you can access and autofill your Dashlane data.
Minimum requirements for Apple devices
Update your Dashlane Apple app
You can autofill data directly in Safari—the default browser for Apple devices—but also in Chrome, Firefox, and other apps that support Autofill.
With Dashlane on Apple devices running iOS 18 or later, Dashlane can autofill details stored in your vault for all supported fields, including usernames, passwords, addresses, payments, and 2FA tokens.
On devices running iOS 17 or earlier, you can only autofill passwords. Apple doesn't allow autofill for certain information like addresses or credit card details. If you try to autofill in these form fields, your vault will appear empty, and no results will appear in the search. To use autofill in more form fields and display the appropriate results in search, you can update your device to iOS 18 or later.
Does Dashlane suggest something you don't want to autofill?
Ask Dashlane to autofill something else
Set up Autofill on your iPhone or iPad
Log in with Autofill on your iPhone or iPad
If you use an external keyboard with an Apple device, your device may not be able to autofill.
Your autofill experience may vary slightly when you have more than one account on a website.
If your device is running iOS 18/macOS 15 and later, you're able to autofill your 2-factor authentication (2FA) tokens automatically.
At least one login in Dashlane matches a website or app
When at least one login in Dashlane matches a website or app, select the suggested account that precedes the keyboard. Dashlane autofills the username and password.
The small key icon opens a menu allowing you to select other accounts.
Your device is confident about which login to use
Based on your operating system, when your device is confident about which of your logins to autofill, that login is suggested in place of the keyboard.
You can still access the keyboard by selecting the small keyboard icon, and your other accounts are also available by selecting the small key icon.
Your device doesn't recognize any login in Dashlane that matches the website or app
If you don't have a login for a website or app or the login you tried didn't work, you'll see a generic Passwords option. Select Passwords to open a menu where you can select other logins. Your device may always provide this option for some browsers and apps.
What does Autofill look like on an iPad?
When you log in to a website on your iPad, no Dashlane D icons appear in form fields. When you click in a field, select the suggested login information that precedes the keyboard.
Select the key icon next to the login to open your Dashlane vault.
Autofill information in most text fields with iOS 18
If your device is running version iOS 18 or later, you can use Dashlane’s Autofill to enter information stored in your vault in most text fields. Any information you choose to autofill is copied in its entirety, for example, content in a Secure Note.
Note: At this time, Dashlane can't autofill dates, but you can copy this information. Passkeys won't appear as no data exists to autofill.
- Long press in a field anywhere you want to autofill information. A menu appears.
- Select Autofill and then select Passwords.
Note: Apple chose the label Passwords, and we can't control the name. While the name might seem specific, the menu is designed to include all text available for you to autofill, not only passwords.
- Your Dashlane vault opens.
- Select the item type you want to autofill like Payments.
- Select the item you want and then select the info you want to autofill. Dashlane autofills the field.
Reminder: For fields where autofill is unavailable, you can copy/paste the information in the field.
Create a new login
If Dashlane doesn't have a login saved for the website you're on, or you want to add a new login for that site, you can create a new login. You can start from the Dashlane app or the website.
If you're editing an existing login, check out this article:
Important: If you change the existing password, make sure you update your password on the website for the login as well.
