The General Data Protection Regulation, or GDPR, is a set of rules designed to give residents of the European Union more control over their personal data. Similarly, the California Consumer Privacy Act, or CCPA, is a set of rules designed to give residents of California more control over their personal data. Both give users a series of rights over their personal data and make it easier to ensure that entities with access to that data respect those rights.
Dashlane complies with both the GDPR and CCPA. The spirit of these laws is already in our DNA, and we work hard to make sure that we not only comply with new regulations but continue to provide our users with the highest level of data protection.
Dashlane and your data
Dashlane’s core mission is to help you keep control of your data. Privacy by design is inherent in the application and how we handle your information. We’re proud of our zero-knowledge security architecture, which guarantees that no one but you can read the sensitive information you encrypt in the application.
Of course, Dashlane needs to keep limited information about you for the application and service to work. For example, when you register as a user you must provide Dashlane with an email address. If you are a paying client, we need billing information. If you contact our Support, we keep track of the messages we exchange.
We also collect general information about how the application is used, which we use to provide user support (for example, we can confirm when your account was last accessed) or aggregate with information from other users to improve our offering. Aggregated data can never be separated or used to identify any individual user.
Your encrypted data may transit through or be backed up on our servers, but your data is never readable by Dashlane.
We never sell your data.
Our Privacy Policy and your rights
We encourage you to consult our Privacy Policy for more information about the personal data Dashlane collects, how we use it, and your rights. We’re proud of the work we do!
Should you want to exercise any of your rights under GDPR or CCPA, please consult our page regarding your specific rights under GDPR & CCPA
Where can I find my privacy and data settings?
Follow these steps to find the privacy and data settings in your Dashlane app:
- Web app and web extension: In the My account menu, select Settings, Account summary, and then Edit in the View your data and privacy settings section
- Android: Select the 3-line menu icon in the upper-right corner and select Settings, Security, and then Privacy and data settings
- Apple iOS: Select Settings in the bottom menu and select Security and Privacy and data settings
Users on operating systems we no longer support won't see the privacy and data settings within their application, and should instead log in to the web app. We recommend that all users keep their Dashlane up to date. See Dashlane's minimum requirements
