If you log in using single sign-on (SSO), biometric recovery isn't available because you don't have a Master Password to recover. You have SSO if you use the same login application to access Dashlane and other work accounts. If you don't know whether you have SSO, ask your manager or plan admin. If you can't log in using SSO, contact your admin.

Change your Master Password
Biometrics are physical characteristics used to identify a person. If you unlock your computer with a fingerprint scan or your phone with Face ID, you're already using biometrics.
Biometric recovery lets you reset your Master Password with your face or fingerprint if you forget it. When you enter the wrong password or fail to authenticate, Dashlane offers to verify your identity with your chosen biometric method. Then you can choose a new Master Password.
Important: Unlock with biometrics isn't a replacement for your Master Password. Even with Biometric recovery turned on, we'll ask you to enter your Master Password from time to time to help you remember it.
Before you start
You can use biometric recovery in these Dashlane apps:
- Android app, on a device that supports biometric authentication compatible with the Dashlane app
- iPhone app version 6.2527 or later, on an iPhone that supports Face ID or Touch ID
- iPadOS app version 6.2527 or later, on an iPad that supports Face ID or Touch ID
- macOS app, on a Mac that supports Touch ID
You also need to set up Dashlane to unlock with your face or fingerprint before you turn on biometric recovery.

Other ways to recover your account
In addition to Biometric recovery, you can set up the account recovery key to help regain access to your account if you forget your Master Password. You can also use admin-assisted recovery if you're part of a professional plan.

If you've forgotten your Master Password and haven't turned on a recovery method, you might need to reset your account. Resetting your account erases all the data you've saved in Dashlane. Follow the steps in our troubleshooting article to see if you can still log in.
