If you've turned on face or fingerprint unlock, we won't ask for a password or PIN the next time you open your vault. You'll use your face or fingerprint instead. In your web browser, you might use a security key, your phone or tablet, or your device PIN, depending on which options you've set up.
In your web browser, this option is only available for accounts protected by a Master Password. On mobile and in the macOS app, all Dashlane accounts have this option.

Overview: Unlock Dashlane
Open Dashlane in your web browser with biometric unlock
When you open Dashlane, you'll see a pop-up from your device asking you to look directly into your camera, place your finger on the scanner, enter your device PIN, or insert and touch your security key, depending on the method you set up.
If you have more than one method set up on the same browser or device, Dashlane asks you to scan your fingerprint by default. On a Mac, to use a security key instead, select Cancel, then Try again, and then Use a phone, tablet, or security key. Insert your security key and touch it when prompted.
Keep these points in mind:
- Scan your fingerprint or plug in your security key within 60 seconds, or authentication fails and you'll need to try again
- If you log out manually, biometric unlock turns off and you'll need to turn it on again after you log back in
- If authentication fails, your device might ask for a password—this is your device's session password, not your Dashlane Master Password
Open the Dashlane Android app with biometric unlock
Open the Dashlane Android app and scan your face or fingerprint to access your vault.
If you've turned on both Biometric unlock and PIN unlock, biometrics is the first option that appears. If biometrics fails, we'll ask you to enter your PIN.
If you only have Biometric unlock turned on and biometrics fails, we'll ask you to enter your Master Password.
Open the Dashlane app with Face ID or Touch ID
Open the Dashlane app and use your face or fingerprint to access your vault. Face ID or Touch ID is the first option that appears.
If Face ID or Touch ID doesn't recognize you, try again. If you can't open the app after two tries, we'll ask you to enter your Master Password. If you've turned on Use PIN, you can enter your PIN instead.

Open the Dashlane macOS app with Touch ID
Open the Dashlane macOS app and use your fingerprint to access your vault instead of entering your Master Password.
Note: Touch ID works in the Dashlane macOS app but not in the Safari extension.
