Import data from LastPass into Dashlane
You can import your data directly from LastPass using the Dashlane web app. Direct import is the safest and easiest way to move your data. If you have problems with direct import, you can export your data from LastPass to a CSV file and then import the file into Dashlane.
Note: Direct import doesn't work for members of LastPass business plans who log in to their LastPass account with Single Sign-On (SSO). If you log in to LastPass with SSO, you can import your LastPass data to Dashlane from a downloaded CSV
Import data directly from LastPass
- In the Dashlane web app, Select the My account menu. Then select Settings and Import data.
- For Import source, select LastPass.
- Select Directly from LastPass and then Go to LastPass.
- On the LastPass login page that opens, enter your LastPass username and password and select Log in. You'll see a pop-up that says Moving data to Dashlane, and then you'll be redirected back to the Dashlane app.
- In Dashlane, enter your LastPass login details again, and select Unlock data. If you're a Starter, Team, or Business plan member, choose whether you import your data to your Personal or Business Space, and then select Next.
Note: If you have Dashlane through work and the admin of your plan has turned on Smart Space Management, business items are imported to the Business Space. You can choose whether to import non-business items to the Business or Personal Space.
More about Spaces - Preview your import. You can change whether Dashlane imports an item as a login, Secure Note, or payment method. Starter, Team, and Business plan members can choose whether specific items go to their Personal or Business Space.

The import will include logins, Secure Notes, and payment methods. Information that we weren't able to import to a specific field will appear in the Note section of logins or the content of the Secure Note. LastPass folders become Dashlane collections.

Solve problems with your LastPass data import
I'm having problems with direct import. What do I do?
If you see an error message during direct import, select Try again and make sure you're using the correct LastPass account and password. You should see your LastPass data when you log in.
You should also make sure your Dashlane app is up to date.
If you're still seeing an error message or having other problems with direct import, select Import from CSV and try our other import method. Download a CSV file of your LastPass data and import the file to Dashlane.
I'm having problems importing my LastPass data to Dashlane from a downloaded CSV file. What do I do?
If your import takes too long, split the data into multiple CSVs and import it in smaller batches.
If the import isn't working at all, follow these troubleshooting steps:
- Make sure your Dashlane app is up to date.
Update your Dashlane app - Make sure the file you're importing is a CSV file. Check for ".csv" at the end of the filename. Or open the file, select Save as, and save the file as a CSV file.
- Check that each entry in the Web address or url column of the file begins with either "http://" or "https://"
Example: "https://www.website.com/"
If none of these steps solve your problem, you can change the file you export from LastPass to fit Dashlane's CSV template and then import the template.
- Download our CSV template
- Export your LastPass CSV.
Example of a CSV export from LastPass:
- Paste each column from the LastPass CSV into the matching column of the Dashlane CSV template.
Put "Login," "Secure Note," "Bank Account," or "Credit Card" for all rows in the Type column. Put extra columns from the LastPass CSV after the totp column in the Dashlane CSV template. The information from extra columns will appear in the Note section of logins or the content of the Secure Note.
Example of a Dashlane CSV template after pasting in LastPass data:
- Import the CSV file to Dashlane as this article describes. But select Other CSV instead of LastPass as an import source.
Import your data to Dashlane
The import worked, but I don't see all my data. Where did it go?
If you don't see all your data for a specific item, check the Note section of each login and the content of each Secure Note.
Other password managers have their own ways of storing and organizing your data that we can't control. They can add, remove, and rename fields without our knowing. While we aim to import all your information to Dashlane, we might not be able to import everything to the perfect place for each item.
To make sure none of your information is lost, we put everything that we can't match to a specific field in the Note section of your logins or the content of your Secure Notes.
