When you create an account, you need to complete a few steps, including a Master Password or PIN for passwordless login. Sometimes, customers pay for their subscription, enter their email address, and don't realize that more steps remain.
If you haven't finished your account setup and try to log in, you'll see an "Invalid email address" error, even though you added your email. Partially created accounts exist in our system, but they aren't fully set up without a Master Password or PIN. If you haven't finished your account setup, you can complete it and create your Master Password or PIN at any time.
The "Invalid email address" error message can occur in these scenarios:
- You subscribed and try to log in before you complete account creation
- You reset your account and haven't recreated it yet
- You may have entered the wrong email address as your Dashlane ID
Finish your account setup

If you’ve already installed the Dashlane browser extension, select the Dashlane D icon in your browser toolbar and select Create an account. You can also go to the Dashlane website, select Log in, and then Create an account.
- Enter the same email address you used when you paid for your subscription.

Choose how you want to protect your account.
- Depending on where you started, your vault or the Get Started page opens. Your Dashlane account is ready to use.
Worried you might forget your Master Password?
You can turn on one or more of the recovery options available to you, like the account recovery key, biometric recovery, and admin-assisted recovery. Then, if you forget your Master Password, you can gain access again and reset your Master Password.
