After you set up your Dashlane account, the next step is to add logins and keep them updated.
Add new logins
Dashlane has three main ways to add new logins to your account.
1. Import your logins
You can import your logins from a different password manager or another Dashlane account. If you have an Android device, you can also import directly from Chrome.
2. Add logins as you browse the web
You can save new logins to your account as you browse the web. Every time you log in to a new site, Dashlane asks if you want to save the login for future use.
When you create a new password for a site already saved in Dashlane, we ask if you want to update the login in our app. That way, your logins stay current in Dashlane, even when you change your password.
3. Add logins manually
You can always add logins one by one. The process depends on how you use Dashlane:
- In the web app, select Logins, then + Add new.
- In the extension, select the Dashlane D and then the plus (+) icon at the bottom right.
- On your Android device, select Home, then Logins, then + Add login. Then choose from a list of popular websites or select + Add login again.
- On your iOS device, select Home, then the plus (+) icon, then Add login.
On the Add login page, enter your login info. Make sure to enter the Username, Password, and Website. Dashlane needs all three of these items to help you log in.
Remember to select Save. To save in the Android mobile app, select the checkmark icon.

Edit your logins
After you add logins to Dashlane, you can go back and edit them:
- Select Logins in the web app and browser extension. In the mobile app, select Home, then Logins.
- Select the login you want to edit.
- In the web app, you can change any of the fields directly. In the extension and mobile apps, select the pencil icon first before editing.
You can edit this information:
- Your Email Address, Username, and Password
- The Website for the login
- The Item name, or the name for this login that you see in your login list
- The login Category
You can enter an Alternate username if a login has a username that isn't your email address. Or you can use that space for the additional login info or codes that some sites require. You can keep extra login info in the Note section as well.
You can turn on or off 2-factor authentication (2FA) for logins that need an added layer of protection. You can also Share the login with other Dashlane customers or Delete a login that you no longer need.
In the edit pop-up of the web app but not the Android or iOS mobile apps, you can turn these options on or off:
- Automatically log me into this website for websites you visit regularly
- Only autofill on exact URL, which prevents us from autofilling your info on sites that are "linked" with the website you listed for the login
- Require Master Password to add a layer of protection for logins that need more security
If you belong to a Starter, Team, or Business plan, you can use Spaces to separate work and personal data.
Delete logins you no longer need
Do you have unused or duplicate logins you want to delete in your vault? In the web app, you can select multiple logins and bulk delete them in one action.
