You can't use an existing passwordless account with a Dashlane professional plan. If you currently have a passwordless account and want to buy or join a professional plan, you have two options:
- Create a new account protected by a Master Password with a different email address than the one you currently use.
-
Reset and recreate your existing account as an account protected by a Master Password.
Reset and recreate your account
Important: If you decide to reset and recreate your account, you should complete this process before buying or joining a professional plan. To avoid losing data, export your data before resetting your account. You'll import the data again after recreating your account.
These options have two exceptions:
- If you use a PIN code to log in to your current passwordless account and you're joining a plan that uses Confidential SSO, you can join the new plan with your existing account. Your account will automatically be migrated to log in with single sign-on (SSO). This option isn't available if you currently log in with a physical security key or if you're the person buying a plan or starting a trial.
-
If you're buying a professional plan or starting a free trial, you can create a new passwordless account protected by a physical security key. This option is the only way to use a passwordless account with a professional plan. You must be the first admin on the new plan.
Early access: Use security key login for the admin account of a professional plan
How do I reset and recreate my account?
Follow these steps to reset and recreate your account. If you don't have any logins or other data in the account, you can skip steps 1 and 3.
Step 1: Export your data to a secure DASH file and test the export file
- Export your data to a secure DASH file
-
Create a Dashlane test account with an email address that's different from the address associated with your existing account.
Go to the Dashlane account creation page to create your test account
Tip: If this link takes you into your existing Dashlane account, try opening the link in a private browser window.
- Import your DASH file to the test account
- Check the Dashlane vault in your test account to make sure you're not missing any data. If your data is present in the test account, move on to step 2.
If your data isn't present in the test account, you can export a CSV file. CSV files aren't encrypted, and others can read them. Delete the CSV file from your device after you're done using it.
If you're having trouble exporting your data, or your data isn't appearing in your test account, select Chat with bot in the bottom right of this page.
Step 2: Reset and recreate your account
- Log out of your existing Dashlane account
-
Warning! Resetting your account will erase all data associated with your account. If you don't export your data first, you'll lose any logins or other items saved in your account.
-
Create a new Dashlane account protected by a Master Password using the email address from your passwordless account.
Step 3: Import your data to your new account
Use the secure DASH file or CSV file you created in Step 1 to import your data back into your new account.
After recreating your account, ask your plan admin to resend your professional plan invitation, and follow the instructions in the invitation.
Important: If you've shared items with other Dashlane customers, you'll need to share them again after recreating your account.
If you're having trouble with this process, select Chat with bot in the bottom right of this page.
