Passwordless accounts aren't currently available for Dashlane professional plans. If you have an existing passwordless account and want to buy or join a professional plan, you have two options:
- You can set up an account protected by a Master Password using a different email address than the one you use for your passwordless account.
- If you want to use the same email address that you currently use for your passwordless account, you can reset and recreate your account. When recreating your account, you'll choose the option to use a Master Password rather than passwordless login.
If you decide to reset and recreate your account, you should complete this process before buying or joining a professional plan. To avoid losing data, export your data before resetting your account. You'll import the data again after recreating your account.
In what situations should I reset and recreate my account?
You should reset and recreate your account if you want to do any of these things using the same email address that you use for your existing passwordless account:
- Join a Dashlane professional plan that someone else invited you to
- Start a trial of a Dashlane professional plan
- Buy a Dashlane professional plan
If you use a different email address to buy or join your Dashlane professional plan, you don't need to reset and recreate your account. You can create a new account protected by a Master Password using the other email address.
How do I reset and recreate my account?
Follow these steps to reset and recreate your account. If you don't have any logins or other data in the account, you can skip steps 1 and 3.
Step 1: Export your data to a secure DASH file and test the export file
- Export your data to a secure DASH file
- Create a Dashlane test account with an email address that's different from the address associated with your existing account.
Go to the Dashlane account creation page to create your test account
Tip: If this link takes you into your existing Dashlane account, try opening the link in a private browser window.
- Import your DASH file to the test account
- Check the Dashlane vault in your test account to make sure you're not missing any data. If your data is present in the test account, move on to step 2.
If your data isn't present in the test account, you can export a CSV file. CSV files aren't encrypted, and others can read them. Delete the CSV file from your device after you're done using it.
If you're having trouble exporting your data, or your data isn't appearing in your test account, you can get help from our support chatbot, Dashy. To start a conversation, select the chat iconin the bottom-right corner. After entering your login email address, follow the prompts and briefly describe your issue.
Step 2: Reset and recreate your account
- Log out of your existing Dashlane account
-
Reset your account
Warning! Resetting your account will erase all data associated with your account. If you don't export your data first, you'll lose any logins or other items saved in your account.
- Create a new Dashlane account protected by a Master Password using the email address from your passwordless account.
Step 3: Import your data to your new account
Use the secure DASH file or CSV file you created in Step 1 to import your data back into your new account.
After recreating your account, ask your plan admin to resend your professional plan invitation, and follow the instructions in the invitation.
Important: If you've shared items with other Dashlane customers, you'll need to share them again after recreating your account.
Tip: If you're having trouble with this process, you can open a ticket through our support chatbot. Open the chatbot by selecting the Chat with bot iconat the bottom of any Help Center page. In the chatbot, follow the prompts and briefly describe your issue.
