If you've previously used Safari, follow these instructions to upgrade. If you use another browser like Chrome, Firefox, or Edge, no action is needed.
Important: With the Dashlane Safari extension, SSO isn’t available at this time due to Apple limitations. You can use Self-Hosted or Confidential SSO on a different browser like Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.
Dashlane offers a macOS app and a Safari extension, which leverages Apple's latest technology. With the Dashlane Safari extension, you can use more of Dashlane's features and tools without needing to open the separate Dashlane macOS app. You have access to our feature-rich extension pop-up and in-browser vault view, as well as the best Autofill capabilities that Dashlane has to offer.

About the Dashlane macOS app
I thought Dashlane was going to be a web-first product. Is the Dashlane macOS app another desktop app?
The Dashlane macOS app has been available since 2021 and completely integrates with the Apple ecosystem, ensuring the best user experience.
The Dashlane macOS app can feel like a desktop app, but it’s essentially another way to manage your Dashlane vault and account alongside our Dashlane Safari extension.
Our goal is to continue providing the best possible experience for our customers who use Safari, which is why we've released the Dashlane Safari extension. The extension incorporates all the recent Autofill improvements available on Chrome and Firefox, while still providing an Apple-native experience.
The Dashlane macOS app and Safari extension can be installed together from the App Store. You can use the Dashlane macOS app alongside the Dashlane Safari extension if you choose. You can also use the Dashlane macOS app independently from the Safari browser. The Dashlane Safari extension is another component of the app.
About the Dashlane Safari extension
The Dashlane Safari extension improves your online experience. The extension reduces your need to use the Dashlane macOS app because you can use more Dashlane features and tools right in your browser.
Yet, you may need to enter your Master Password more often if you want to access the macOS app, even if you're already logged in to the Safari extension. The Safari extension is optional, but don't worry, the Dashlane macOS app isn’t going anywhere.
When you turn on the Safari extension, all the information you have in your vault is safe, and you can still easily access your data in the app.
Minimum requirements
The Dashlane Safari extension is available for macOS devices running Ventura (macOS 13.0) or later.
If you're running a macOS version earlier than Ventura, you'll have access only to the Dashlane macOS app. You'll need to update to the latest version of macOS to use the Safari extension. The latest version of macOS is always a free upgrade from Apple, and you can install it on most Mac computers.
If you can't update your OS now, we know it's not ideal, but you'll need to install and use the Dashlane extension on another compatible browser.
People using Chrome and Firefox can access Dashlane with the web app.
Dashlane Safari extension and Autofill experience
With the Dashlane Safari extension, you have improved Autofill capabilities and greater control over where and what is autofilled. This extension aligns with Apple's security and privacy standards and completely integrates with the Apple ecosystem. With our Machine Learning Autofill Engine, Autofill works everywhere you go with improved accuracy and faster adaptation.
You can use all the previously available Autofill capabilities for forms, payment, and personal information. You can also save and update passwords as you browse and use the in-field Password Generator. And the Dashlane Safari extension has the latest improvements that were only available on Chrome and Firefox.

- Workaround: Open links from Dashlane emails directly in the Safari extension and manually enter codes shown in emails
- Phishing prevention by redirecting away from malicious websites posing as Dashlane
Limitations
- Need to log in to the Dashlane Safari extension and the Dashlane macOS app separately
-
SSO isn’t available at this time due to Apple limitations, but you can use Self-Hosted or Confidential SSO on a different browser like Chrome, Firefox, or Edge
- Can't use Touch ID to unlock the extension due to a limitation on Safari’s side, so you need to use your Master Password
