You can back up and restore data saved in Dashlane using a secure DASH file. You can export a DASH file to securely store any data you've saved in Dashlane—including logins, payment info, and Secure Notes—and then import your data into a new or existing Dashlane account whenever you want.
DASH files are "encrypted" or locked, which means no one can access the files without a password you create. DASH files can only be decrypted using this password and a Dashlane account.
You can use DASH files in these ways:
- Recover your data if you can't access your account
- Move your data from one Dashlane account to another
- Change the email you use with your Dashlane account
- Share data securely or access shared data during an emergency

Back up your data
To back up your data, you can export your data to a DASH file—an encrypted file that can only be used with a Dashlane account and a password you create. For all Dashlane plans, you can export data to DASH files using the web and Android apps. At this time, you can't export data using the iOS (Apple) or Safari apps.
If someone else has shared logins or Secure Notes with you without giving you "full rights," the items won't appear in your DASH export. If you have files attached to Secure Notes, download your Secure Notes file attachments before exporting.

Important note for Dashlane Starter, Team, or Business plan members: If a plan admin has turned on Smart Space Management, your export will include only your personal information and nothing from your Business Space. Before exporting, move any personal items from your Business Space to your Personal Space or contact an admin.

The DASH import password didn't work
