Passwordless login is currently available only to customers with Dashlane personal plans and to the first admin of a new professional plan.

Passwordless login is a highly secure and phishing-resistant way to access your Dashlane account. Instead of a Master Password, you protect your data with a PIN code or biometrics.
What makes passwordless login secure?
Passwordless authentication is easy and convenient but also more secure than previous ways of protecting and accessing your account. Currently, you prove your identity when logging in to an account by providing something that only you know—a password. But passwords come with important risks:
- Cybercriminals can steal your password in security breaches or phishing attacks
- Others can potentially guess your password, especially if it's simple
- A complex password can be hard to remember and cause you to lose access to your accounts if you forget it
Passwordless authentication gets rid of many of these problems in two ways:
- You use a device-specific PIN or biometrics to access your account. Your PIN is easy to remember, and, with biometrics, you don't need to remember anything. So you're unlikely to get locked out of your account and lose data.
- But your PIN and biometrics only work on the device where you set them up. Additionally, biometrics only works if you're physically present when trying to access the device. So accessing the account illegally — through a security breach or as part of a phishing attack — is extremely difficult.
Tip: For extra security, choose a PIN for Dashlane that’s different from the PIN you use to log in to your phone or computer. Always make sure to lock your app when you're not using it.

Passwordless login also makes accessing Dashlane easier than ever before. You no longer need to create and remember a complicated Master Password to safely manage your online life.

I've already logged in to Dashlane on this browser: Select the Dashlane D icon to open the extension pop-up and then enter your PIN to log in.
Notes:
- You have three tries to enter the correct PIN. If you enter the wrong PIN three times in a row, you'll need to use the security challenge to log in again.
- If you leave your browser open, you won't need to re-enter your PIN to open the app, even if you close the Dashlane tab.
- In the web app, you can't use biometrics like your face or fingerprint to lock and unlock your passwordless account.
-
If you've lost access to your passwordless account on all devices, you can still get back into your account as long as you've set up an account recovery key.

Common questions about passwordless login
Can I change my existing Dashlane account to use passwordless login?
To switch to passwordless login for an account protected by a Master Password, you need to export your Dashlane data, reset and recreate your account, and then import your data back into the recreated account.
If you have a professional plan, you can't change to a passwordless account at this time. You can create a new passwordless account using a different email address than the one you use with your professional plan and import your data to that account.
- Export your data to a secure DASH file
-
Warning! Resetting your account will erase all data associated with your account. If you don't export first, you'll lose any logins or other data saved in your account.
- Create a passwordless account
- Import your data back into your passwordless account
Important: If you've shared items with other Dashlane customers, you'll need to share them again after recreating your account.
What if I have a passwordless account and want to buy or join a Dashlane professional plan?
Passwordless accounts aren't currently available for Dashlane professional plans, but there are other options.
If you have a passwordless account and you've been invited to join a professional plan with Confidential SSO enabled, you can now join the plan, and your account will be updated to use SSO login. If you don't know whether the professional plan has Confidential SSO, ask your manager or plan admin.

Is passwordless login for Dashlane the same as passkeys?
Passwordless login allows you to access your Dashlane account without a Master Password. On a technical level, our version of passwordless login doesn't involve passkeys. But for the person logging in, the experience will be similar to accessing an account using a passkey.
You can also use Dashlane to store passkeys for other websites and apps.
Which Dashlane apps can I use with passwordless login?
You can create a passwordless account in any Dashlane app. Then you can add other devices to your account using either of these methods:
If you aren't logged in to Dashlane on any of your devices, you can't use a QR code or the security challenge to add another device. Instead, you can use your account recovery key to get back into your Dashlane account. You may reuse your recovery key if you need to regain access to your account.
What if I lose my phone or computer?
If you lose a device where you've set up passwordless login for Dashlane, your PIN or biometrics will prevent others from accessing your account.
You should revoke access to your account for the lost device as soon as possible. Revoking access means removing the device's permission to use your Dashlane account. You can always add the device to your account again later.
You can still access and protect your account even if you lose access to all the devices as long as you’ve set up an account recovery key.
