Dashlane’s web app gives you a simple, safe way to store logins and other important data. To get all the benefits of the web app, you should also get the Dashlane extension for the browsers you use. Complete these steps to get started with the Dashlane web app:
- Get the extension for your favorite browser
- Create or log in to your Dashlane account
- Follow the onboarding checklist
Step 1: Get the extension for your favorite browser
The Dashlane web app is officially available for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari. You can also use Dashlane in Chromium-based browsers, such as Opera and Brave. If you use a Linux or a Chromebook device, you can only use Dashlane with Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.

Install the Chrome extension
- Find the Dashlane extension in the Chrome Web Store.

- Select Add extension.
Pin the extension to your Chrome toolbar
Pinning the extension ensures that Dashlane always stays visible.
To see the Dashlane extension in your Chrome toolbar:
- In your browser toolbar, select the Extensions icon, shown as a puzzle piece.
- Select the Pin icon next to the Dashlane extension. The Pin icon turns blue, and the Dashlane D shows up next to the search bar.
Install the Chrome extension in Microsoft Edge
Because Microsoft Edge is a Chromium browser, you can also use the Dashlane Chrome extension with Edge.
- Select the 3-dot menu in the toolbar in Microsoft Edge.
- Select Extensions in the list.
- Select Manage extensions in the pop-up that opens. Turn on Allow extensions from other stores and then select Allow.
- Find the Dashlane extension in the Chrome Web Store.

- Select Add extension to confirm you want to add the extension to your browser.

To see the Dashlane extension in your Edge toolbar:
- In your browser toolbar, select the Extensions icon, shown as a puzzle piece.
- Select the Show in toolbar icon, shown as an eye with a slash through it, next to the Dashlane extension.The slash disappears from the eye, and the Dashlane D shows up next to the search bar.
Install the Firefox extension
- Go to the Dashlane extension in Firefox.

- Choose whether you want to Allow this extension to run in Private Windows, and then select Okay.
Install the Microsoft Edge extension
- Find the Dashlane extension in the Microsoft Edge Add-ons store.

Install the Safari extension
- Select Safari in Safari's menu bar and then select Safari Extensions.
- Search for "Dashlane" and select the download icon for Dashlane - Password Manager.
- Quit and reopen Safari.
- Select Safari in the menu bar again and then select Preferences. We'll ask you to turn on the Dashlane extension if you haven't already.
- In the Extensions tab of Preferences, select the checkbox for Dashlane. Clear the checkboxes for any older versions of Dashlane. Close Preferences.
- Select the Dashlane D icon in the Safari toolbar and then select Open the app. Enter your Master Password if asked.

Step 2: Create or log in to your Dashlane account
If you're a member of a Dashlane Business plan with SSO enabled, this section doesn't apply to you as you don't have a Master Password.
Log in to your Dashlane account with SSO
After you've installed the Dashlane extension in your browser, you can log in to your existing Dashlane account or create a new Dashlane account.
Create a new Dashlane account
- Select the Dashlane D icon in your browser’s toolbar, and select Create an account.
- Enter the email address you want to use for your account. You'll always use this address to log in to your Dashlane account on all your devices. You can change your contact email address, but your login email address stays the same.
Change your contact email address - Create your Master Password. You use your Master Password to log in to Dashlane and to keep safe all the data you save in our app. Keep your Master Password a secret and don't send it over the internet. You can change your Master Password whenever you want.
Change your Master PasswordImportant: Dashlane doesn't know your Master Password and can't send your password to you if you forget it.
Tip: Worried you might forget your Master Password? Download and log in to the Dashlane mobile app. Then you'll have access to Master Password reset so you can always regain access to your account with biometrics, like your fingerprint or face.
- Enter your Master Password again to log in.
Log in to your Dashlane account
- Select the Dashlane D icon in your browser’s toolbar.
- Enter the email address you use for Dashlane and your Master Password.
- In the extension pop-up, select Open the web app.
- Follow the onboarding checklist.

Check that you're logged in
If you're logged in, the Dashlane D in your browser's toolbar is green. To access the web app, select the Dashlane D and then Open the web app.
If the Dashlane D is orange, you aren't logged in. You need to log in first to access the web app.
Step 3: Follow the onboarding checklist
After you've logged in to Dashlane, you're ready to set up the app from our Get Started page.
Add logins to Dashlane
If you previously stored your passwords and login details in a browser or a different password manager, you can import your data directly into Dashlane instead of manually entering it.
Import your data into Dashlane
You can also add passwords one by one:
- From the Get started page, select Add your first password as you browse, and a list of some popular websites to choose from appears.
- Select the website you want to start with.
- Select Open selected website. If you're already logged in to the website, log out. When you log in again, a pop-up appears and asks if you want to save to Dashlane.
- Select Save. If Dashlane already has information saved for this site, you have the option to Replace the existing login info or to Save as new, which creates a new login for the website.
Add your mobile device to Dashlane
You can add Dashlane to your mobile device from the Get Started page. This step is optional, and you can complete it anytime.
- Select Get the mobile app.
- On the next screen, scan the QR code with your mobile device.
If you have issues, select It's not working for some tips.
- After you scan the code, follow the steps on your mobile device to download and install the Dashlane app.
Try Autofill
You can also test out Autofill.
- Select Try Autofill on the Get Started page.
- Select Store personal info to continue. Dashlane asks you to enter basic details that websites might ask you for, such as your name, date of birth, and phone number.
- Enter your information and select Continue.
- Select Save and then Continue.
- On the next screen, you can test Autofill. The Dashlane D appears in each field. Select one of the fields. In the pop-up, select the data you entered and Dashlane will autofill. Select Done.
