The Dashlane web app is officially available for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari, but you may also use Dashlane in Chromium-based browsers, such as Opera and Brave.
To download the extension on a Linux or Chromebook machine, visit our download page. You're taken through our web onboarding, during which Dashlane is installed on your browser. The Dashlane extension for Linux and Chromebook is currently compatible with only Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.
For a quick overview, watch our video about installing the Dashlane extension on any browser other than Safari. Visit the Safari section in this article to learn how to install the Dashlane app for Safari.

Create your Dashlane account
If you're a member of a Dashlane Business plan with SSO enabled, this section doesn't apply to you as you don't have a Master Password.
Log in to a business account with SSO enabled
After you've successfully installed the Dashlane extension in your browser, Dashlane prompts you to create your Dashlane account.
- If you already have a Dashlane account, select Log in.
- If you need to create a Dashlane account, choose your Dashlane email address and your Dashlane Master Password.
- Your Dashlane email address is what you'll use to log in. You'll receive emails from Dashlane to this email address unless you change your contact email address.
- Your Master Password is the key you use to encrypt and unlock the data you save in Dashlane. Remember, to keep security as strong as possible, only you know your Master Password. Dashlane doesn't know your Master Password and can't send your password to you if you forget it.

When you first open the web app, the Getting Started hub appears.
This hub guides you through some onboarding steps as you use Dashlane for the first time.
You've already installed the Dashlane browser extension, so you're ready to complete the next task—add a password to Dashlane as you browse. Select Add your first password as you browse to learn how.
Add your first password to Dashlane
If you've stored your passwords in a browser or a different password manager, you can import your passwords directly into your Dashlane account instead of manually entering them.
Import passwords
You can follow these steps to add your first password:
- After you select the Add your first password box, a list of some popular websites to choose from appears.
- Select the website you want to start with, and you'll see three short steps to help you add your first password.
- Select Open to go to the selected website. If you're already logged in to the site, be sure to log out first. When you log in again, you see a pop-up that asks if you want to save your password to Dashlane.
- Select Save and then select Back to app.
- Select What's next?, which guides you to select the extension to see how Dashlane can log you into the site you just saved.
- Select the website that you saved. A new tab opens where Dashlane autofills your login information.
A small window appears to let you know that Dashlane has automatically logged you in.
- Select the Back to app button to go back to the web app, where you can add more of your passwords to Dashlane, either manually or with the import feature.
Add your mobile device to Dashlane
You can add Dashlane to your mobile device from the Getting Started hub. This step is optional, and you can complete it before or after any other step in the hub.
- Select Get the mobile app.
- On the next screen, scan the QR code with your mobile device.
If you have issues, select It's not working for some tips.
- After you scan the code, follow the prompts on your mobile device to download and install the Dashlane app.
Try autofill
Now that you've added some passwords to your account, Dashlane might prompt you to try autofill.
- Select the Try Autofill button from the Getting Started hub.
In the following window, you first need to store your personal info in Dashlane securely.
- Select the Store personal info button to continue. Dashlane prompts you to enter some basic details that you're often asked for on websites: your name, date of birth, and phone number.
- Enter your info and select Continue. Dashlane prompts you to remember this information.
- Select Save and then Continue.
- On the next screen, select Try autofill. Note the Dashlane D icons in each field.
- Select one of the fields, then select the data you just entered from the pop-up, and watch Dashlane do its magic! Select Done.
Stay logged in to your Dashlane account
You can have your extension remember your Master Password.
By default, the extension logs you out automatically when you close the browser. You can choose to have the extension remember your Master Password—select the Keep me logged in for 14 days checkbox.
This option doesn't appear if you're logging in for the first time or if you haven't registered the device.
Important: Turn on this feature only if you're certain that your computer is safe from unauthorized access. For security reasons, we still ask you to log in with your Master Password every 14 days.
As an alternative, we support login with biometrics or a security key for the Dashlane extension.
