Get started
To use Dashlane on Android, you need to install the Dashlane Android app from the Google Play Store. After you install the app, you can create an account or log in to your existing account. Then follow the steps in the For you tab to set up your account and add your data and details.
Step 1: Install the Android app
Only install Dashlane from official sources, such as the Google Play Store.
Step 2: Create or log in to your Dashlane account
If you're part of an organization with single sign-on (SSO) enabled, visit our SSO article. The process is a bit different. SSO means you use one login application to access Dashlane and other work accounts.

If you need to create a new Dashlane account, select whether you want to log in with a Master Password or a 6-digit PIN.

Step 3: Follow the steps in the "For you" tab
After you install Dashlane on your Android device, the For you tab opens. Use this tab to set up Dashlane and protect your account. You'll find a setup checklist, notifications, and security alerts in one place.
After you finish the checklist, open For you whenever a badge appears on the tab. A badge means you have new notifications or security alerts.
Step 4: Add your data and details
In the Dashlane app, select Vault in the side menu. On the Vault screen, all the item types appear in a bar near the top. Select an item type to add info:

Store alarm codes, account numbers, recovery keys for accounts unrelated to Dashlane, private notes of up to 10,000 characters, and more -

Manage your account
Set up account recovery options
Recommended: Turn on at least one account recovery method, such as a recovery key, face or fingerprint recovery, or admin-assisted recovery for professional plans. If you forget your Master Password or account PIN, you can use a recovery method to access your account. Without a recovery method, you may need to reset your account, which erases all your data.
Unlock your Android app with your face, fingerprint, or device-specific PIN
You can set up an unlock option for your Dashlane account. With these options, you can lock and unlock Dashlane more easily while your data stays protected.
Dashlane on Android supports biometric authentication, so you can use your face or fingerprint to unlock the app. You can also unlock Dashlane on your Android device with a device-specific PIN if you log in with a Master Password.
Dashlane still asks you to enter your Master Password after you restart your device or manually log out. We'll also ask you to enter your Master Password from time to time to help you remember it.
Protect your account and logins with 2-factor authentication (2FA)
2FA adds an extra layer of security to your online life that requires two steps when you log in. If you turn on 2FA for your Dashlane account, you're prompted to enter your password and a token from your authenticator app when you log in.
You can also turn on 2FA for important logins, such as banking, wherever you use Dashlane. After you turn on 2FA, you'll use it to log in to that account everywhere you use Dashlane.
Review the permissions Dashlane needs on Android
To install Dashlane on your Android device, accept the permissions the app needs. Permission names can vary by Android version.
Dashlane on Android requires these permissions:
- In-app purchases: Dashlane uses this permission so you can buy a Premium plan in the app
- Identity: Dashlane uses this permission to add a Dashlane account to your device and store your settings
- Network and Wi-Fi connection information: Dashlane uses this permission to check your connection, so it syncs your data only when you're online
- Photo, media, and files: Dashlane uses this permission to save images on your device, so the app uses less mobile data
- Others: Dashlane uses these permissions to autofill your logins in other apps
Dashlane asks for these permissions only when you use a feature that needs them:
- Contacts: Dashlane uses this permission to suggest contacts when you share data
- Camera: Dashlane uses this permission to scan QR codes and set up 2-factor authentication (2FA)
- Storage: Dashlane uses this permission so you can save files you've stored in Dashlane to your device
