Dashlane verifies your identity whenever you create an account, log in on a new device, or recover access to your account. These checks make sure only you can access your account. Verification applies to all personal and professional plans and works automatically, with no setup needed.
How Dashlane protects your account
Before you can create an account or access it on a new device, Dashlane needs to verify that you own your email address. You’ll do so with a code sent to your email or a code from your authenticator app. If you created your account with a security key, you’ll use it to verify your login on a new device.
- Identity verification: Dashlane continues only after you enter a verification code from your email or authenticator app.
- 2-factor authentication (2FA) support: If you use an authenticator app for 2FA, you can enter a code from the app to verify your identity.
How to verify your identity
Identity verification happens at key moments: when you create an account, log in on a new device, or recover access to your account.
Depending on how your account is set up, you’ll use one of these methods:
- Email code: Enter the code Dashlane sends to the email address linked to your account.
- Authenticator app code: If you set up 2FA with an authenticator app, enter the code from the app.
- Security key: If you set up a security key, use it to confirm your login.
You might also see a brief check to confirm you're a person, not an automated program. Complete the check to continue.
Verification codes expire after 15 minutes. If your code expires, request a new one.
Keep your verification codes private. Dashlane will never ask for your verification code by phone, email, or chat, including Dashlane Support. Enter verification codes only in Dashlane.
If you don’t receive a code
Dashlane sends verification codes to your Dashlane contact email address from no-reply@dashlane.com. The email usually arrives within a few minutes.
To protect your privacy, Dashlane shows the same confirmation message for every email address you enter, even an incorrect one. As a result, no one can use Dashlane to find out whether an email address has an account.
If you don’t receive a code, try these steps:
- Check that you entered your Dashlane contact email address without typos.
- Check your spam or junk folder.
- Add no-reply@dashlane.com to your contacts or safe senders list.
- Wait a few minutes, then request a new code. Use only the most recent code.
- If you use a work email, ask your IT admin whether filters block emails from Dashlane.
If you can't access your email or authenticator app, check our account recovery options.
