You can either create an account directly on the Dashlane app for iOS (or iPadOS), or log in to your existing Dashlane account.
If you are not sure if your iOS device is compatible with Dashlane, please check our minimum requirements page.
Creating your Dashlane account
First, go to the App Store and download Dashlane.
When you open the app for the first time, you will be asked whether you want to create a new account or whether you already have an account. Tap the Get started button.
You will first be prompted to create your Master Password, which is the password you will use to log in to your account from all of your devices. To help you create your Master Password you can always tap on See our tips. Remember that if you don't like the password you chose, you can always change it later!
Keep in mind that if you forget your Master Password, we will not be able to generate a new one and send it to you. For security reasons, your Master Password is not stored on our servers and your data cannot be decrypted without it. You are the only one to have the key to your data!
You will then be prompted to enter your email address. This will be your Dashlane ID, which you will use to log in to Dashlane on all your devices. The Dashlane confirmation emails will also be sent to this email address (later you can change your contact email, should you wish). At this stage, you can also choose to enable Touch ID, to later be able to log in with your fingerprint.
Your account has been created! You can now access Dashlane from any computer and from any iOS and Android device. Be sure to remember your Dashlane ID and your Master Password.
Once your account has been created, you may be offered to use the Inbox Scan feature to scan your mailbox, find the accounts that you have created online, and import them to your Dashlane account. You can always launch it later by tapping on "Inbox Scan" from the Tools menu.
Otherwise, the app will offer to connect your account to your computer.
To help you benefit from the full value of Dashlane on iOS, once you have created your account, you will also be prompted to activate autofill. To know more about this feature on iOS, please have a look a the following article: Using Dashlane to autofill passwords with iOS
If you already have an account
If you already have a Dashlane account, simply tap on Log in and enter your Dashlane ID, which is the email address you used to set up your account, and your Master Password. Click here if you've forgotten your Master Password.
You will be sent a six-digit security code by email. You must enter it here to authorize your account on this new device. You can manage your authorized devices from the web app. For more information, see How to manage your authorized devices. If you encounter a problem with your security code, please close the app completely and then reopen it. This will send a new code to your email. Make sure you check your spam or junk mail folder. If you are still having trouble with this step, please see here.
You can then visit the following help articles to know more about how to add data to your Dashlane app on iOS and what other features the iOS app has to offer:
If you don't want to enter your Master Password each time you log in to Dashlane, you can set up Touch or Face ID or a PIN code for your Dashlane account, meaning that you will be able to authenticate using those methods. To do so, go to the Settings tab, select the Security section and activate the setting of your choice.
For more information about these features, read How to set up Touch ID or PIN code lock in Dashlane.
