To use the iOS or iPadOS app, you can either create an account or log in to your existing Dashlane account.
If you are not sure if your iOS device is compatible with Dashlane, please check our minimum requirements page.
Note that if you are part of a Dashlane Business plan with single sign-on (SSO) enabled, please have a look at this article to help you get started with Dashlane.
Creating your Dashlane account
First, go to the App Store and download Dashlane.
When you open the app for the first time, you will be asked whether you want to create a new account or if you already have an account. Tap the Get started button if you want to create a new account.
To create your Dashlane account, enter the email address that you want to use as your Dashlane ID. You will use this address to log into your Dashlane account on all your devices.
This email address is also where you will receive our confirmation emails, though you can always set a different contact address later if you wish.
Next, you will be prompted to create your Master Password, which is the password you will use to log in to your account from all of your devices. To help you create your Master Password you can always tap on See our tips. Remember that if you don't like the password you chose, you can always change your Master Password later!
Re-enter your Master Password and then tap on Confirm.
For security reasons, your Master Password is not stored on our servers and your data cannot be decrypted without it. Keep in mind that if you forget your Master Password, we will not be able to recover your account, unless you previously enabled the Master Password reset with biometrics feature.
At this stage, you can also choose to enable Face ID if your device is supported to be able to log in.
Agree to the Privacy and data settings and then tap on Sign up. Your account has been created!
Next, to help you get started, you will be asked if you want to connect to Dashlane on your computer to use this tool on other devices. If you choose to connect to your computer at this stage then you will be asked to log in to that device and follow the link on the screen. Once this is done you will be asked to save your first password. You can tap on Do it later if you wish to proceed without connecting to your computer.
If you choose to connect your computer, you need to log in to that device to continue, and then can get started and add your first passwords there.
On your iOS device, once you have created your account and are logged in, to help you benefit from the full value of Dashlane you will be prompted to Activate Password Autofill. To know more about this feature on iOS, please have a look at the following article: Using Dashlane to autofill passwords with iOS.
Finally, you'll go through an onboarding checklist to help you set up your account. You can choose if you wish to Add your first password or can Connect your computer if you previously skipped this step.
To add your first password, you can either select from the list of your favorite websites or can search from the search bar if the name is not listed.
Type in your email address or login to the website you want to save along with the password, then click on Save.
Once you have completed the onboarding checklist, go ahead and tap on I'm done. You're set up!
If you already have a Dashlane account
If you already have a Dashlane account, simply tap on Log in and enter your Dashlane ID, which is the email address you used to set up your account, and your Master Password.
Click here if you've forgotten your Master Password.
You will be sent a six-digit security code by email. You must enter it here to authorize your account on this new device. You can manage your authorized devices from the web app. For more information, see How to manage your authorized devices. If you encounter a problem with your security code, please close the app completely and then reopen it. This will send a new code to your email. Make sure you check your spam or junk mail folder. If you are still having trouble with this step, please see here.

Going further
If you don't want to enter your Master Password each time you log in to Dashlane, you can set up Touch or Face ID or a PIN code for your Dashlane account, meaning that you will be able to authenticate using those methods. To do so, go to the Settings tab, select the Security section and activate the setting of your choice.
