Join a professional plan and start using Dashlane
Step 1: Accept your invitation to join a plan
You’ll receive an invitation from your plan’s admin to join a Dashlane professional plan. In that email, select Get started to accept the invitation. Follow the prompts to create an account or join the plan with your existing Dashlane account.
Then, a security check is performed. This security check confirms that the request is genuine, so attackers can't fake the process or trick you into a fraudulent request on a fake website. After the security check, you'll enter a verification code sent to your email address. You have 15 minutes to enter your code and complete the process.
If the page doesn't load or takes too long to load, turn off your ad blocker or VPN, or add Dashlane to your allowlist. If you're unable to receive your verification code, visit this article:
If your admin invites you with an invite link instead, select the link and follow the prompts. If you already have a Dashlane account and are logged in, you can use the link to join the plan, then refresh the web app to see the professional plan features reflected in your account.
You can use single sign-on (SSO) to log in to Dashlane instead of a Master Password. Select Get started in the invitation email or open an invite link. You have SSO if you use the same login application to access Dashlane and other work accounts. If you don't know whether you have SSO, ask your manager or plan admin.

Step 2: Install the Dashlane browser extension
The Dashlane browser extension is how you use Dashlane on your computer.
Install the Dashlane browser extension in Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari
After installation, select Extensions, shown as a puzzle icon, in your browser's toolbar, and then select Pin, shown as a pin icon. Select your newly pinned extension pop-up, shown as a D in your browser's toolbar, for quick access to many of Dashlane's features. Select Open the web app from the pop-up to access more features and control your account settings.

Step 3: Set up your account recovery options
If you ever forget your Master Password, we recommend that you set up admin-assisted recovery and an account recovery key. Both options will help you regain access to your Dashlane account without any loss of your data.
Important: To recover your account, you need to set up a recovery method before you forget your Master Password. Dashlane never stores or shares your Master Password, so we can't tell you your password if you forget it.
If you log in to Dashlane using single sign-on (SSO) instead of a Master Password, you can skip this step. You have SSO if you use the same login application to access Dashlane and other work accounts. If you don't know whether you have SSO, ask your manager or plan admin.
Step 4: Add your passwords and data to Dashlane
Dashlane automatically prompts you to save your usernames and passwords—known as logins—as you browse the internet. Ready to save your logins in Dashlane? Log in to any website and select Save in the Dashlane pop-up that appears.

If you have the Spaces feature, you can import passwords from another password manager or a CSV file to your Personal Space in your Dashlane account. If you don’t have the Spaces feature, we recommend that you don't store personal data in your work account.

With Secure Notes, you can securely store important information for easy access. If you have a passwordless account and you've been invited to join a professional plan with Confidential SSO, you can now join the plan, and your account will be migrated to log in with SSO.

Single sign-on (SSO) integration provides a seamless login experience using your organization’s existing suite of IT tools.
If your organization has turned on SSO for Dashlane, you won't need to use a Master Password to access your Dashlane vault. SSO allows you to create and sign in to your Dashlane account using the SSO login you already use to sign in to other tools at your organization.

Important: Due to Apple limitations, self-hosted SSO isn’t currently available with the Dashlane browser extension for Safari, but you can use it through the macOS app.
After your admin has added you to your organization's Dashlane plan, you’ll receive an invite email from Dashlane or an invite link from your admin. When you select to join, you’ll be taken to a webpage where you can create your Dashlane account. Then you'll have to install the Dashlane browser extension to log in to your Dashlane account.
If you've already installed the extension in your browser, you'll be prompted to create an account from the extension instead.
After you set up your account, we'll add you to your organization's plan.

Note: Since you use an email address with your employer's domain to create your Dashlane account, your IT department may be able to access the information you store in Dashlane, including personal logins. Dashlane has no control over your organization’s policies. We recommend that you contact your IT department if you have any questions.

We'll ask if you want to turn on biometric unlock or PIN lock. Biometric unlock uses your fingerprint to unlock the app. When you turn on one of these settings, you won't have to use SSO login every time you open your Dashlane app.

Sign in using SSO if you already have a Master Password or a passwordless account
Important: If the plan you're joining has Spaces, a Business Space will be added to your Dashlane account. When you join, you can move any work-related logins from the Personal Space to the Business Space.
If you're joining a professional plan that doesn't have Spaces, we recommend moving personal data to a new personal account before joining the plan. If you don't move all your logins and join the professional plan, you'll see a banner in the web app giving you the option to move all your existing logins to the Business Space of your account. If you open each of the existing logins, you can also move them to the Business Space one by one or delete them. If you don't move your logins, you won't be able to share or add them to collections, among other limitations.

Your admin has enabled single sign-on (SSO), which means that you no longer need to remember your Master Password. From now on, you can log in to Dashlane using the same SSO login that you use for your organization's other applications.
If you're invited to join a professional plan with SSO enabled and you're logged in, you should log out. You can then accept the invite to the professional plan, and you'll be asked to log in one last time with your current login method to convert to the SSO login.
To log in with SSO, follow these steps:
- Select Log in with SSO. You'll be taken to your organization's IT page to sign in. If you're already signed in, you'll be taken back.
- If prompted, enter your Master Password again.
- Wait a few seconds, and you'll be taken to the Dashlane web app.
Note: If you have any questions, contact your organization's IT department.
If you're having an issue in which the Log in with SSO button isn't working, you'll need to check the extension browser settings:
- Right-click on the Dashlane D icon and select Manage extension.
- Scroll down to Site Access and confirm that On all sites is selected.
- Try the Log in with SSO button again.
If the issue persists, select Chat in the bottom right of this page.

Note: After you've logged in to your Dashlane account at least once in a browser, your Dashlane ID will be prefilled, and you only need to select Log in with SSO to access your account.
- Your organization's SSO login page opens. Sign in using your SSO username and password.
The setting to Automatically log in with SSO on all future logins is selected by default. If you want to manually Log in with SSO on all future logins instead, sign out of Dashlane and then clear the checkbox during your next login.
Important: For automatic login with SSO to work, you need to set your browser to reopen active tabs when restarting. Depending on the browser you're using, look for a setting called "Continue where you left off," "Open tabs from previous session," "Restore your tabs on restart," or something similar.
Automatic login with SSO won't work as expected without this browser setting turned on. For steps to turn this setting on, visit the support site for the browser you're using:
- Turn on Continue where you left off in Chrome
- Turn on Open tabs from previous session in Edge
- Turn on Restore your tabs on restart in Firefox
For automatic login with SSO to work on the Edge browser, you also need to turn off the "Startup Boost" setting on that browser.
After you log in, the Dashlane icon in your browser toolbar will be green.
FAQ
How do I join a professional plan with an existing Dashlane account?
Passwordless accounts aren't currently available for Dashlane professional plans.
What if I have a Passwordless account and want to join a professional plan?
If you have a passwordless account and you've been invited to join a professional plan with Confidential SSO enabled, you can now join the plan, and your account will be migrated to login with SSO. If you don't know whether the professional plan has Confidential SSO, ask your manager or plan admin.

Your Dashlane account is linked to the email address you use to log in. If you want to join a professional plan with an email address that's already linked with a Dashlane account, your admin just needs to invite that email address to the professional plan.
You'll receive an invite email from your admin. Select Get started in that email and follow the prompts. If you're logged out, you'll be prompted to log in first. If you're invited with an invite link, log out before you open the link.
Important: If your plan has Spaces, a Business Space will be added to your Dashlane account. When you join, you can move any work-related logins from the Personal Space to the Business Space.
If you join a plan that doesn't include Spaces, we recommend that you move your personal data to a new personal account before you join. If you don't move your data and join the professional plan, you'll see a banner in the web app that gives you the option to move all your existing logins to the Business Space of your account. What if Dashlane gets hacked?
Everything you store in Dashlane is encrypted—converted to a scrambled code—and uses your Master Password as the key. Without your Master Password, your data remains safely indecipherable. Can I export the personal logins in my Personal Space if I leave my current employer?
If your account has the Spaces feature and you keep personal logins in the Personal Space, you can export your Personal Space logins before you're removed from the plan.

If you don’t take action before your account is removed, you risk losing access to all of the Personal Space logins and data you stored in Dashlane. The best way to avoid losing access to your data is to export it to a new, personal account before your account is removed from the plan. This action is essential if you log in with single sign-on (SSO), as you'll permanently lose access to your account once it's removed from the plan. You have SSO if you use the same login application to access Dashlane and other work accounts. If you don't know whether you have SSO, ask your manager or plan admin.
What happens if my cellphone or laptop is stolen or lost?
If you lose your device or it's stolen, you can sign in from another device and immediately revoke Dashlane access on the missing device.
Even if you recover the device, no one can access your login storage without your Master Password and, if you've set it up, the additional 2-factor authentication (2FA) token.
Since Dashlane has a web app, does that mean all my data is on the web?
No. First, Dashlane authenticates the computer, and then Dashlane downloads the encrypted data to your hard drive. Only then is the data decrypted locally on your device with your Master Password.
How do I turn off Dashlane for specific websites?
If you don't want Dashlane to pop up on certain websites, you can turn off autofill to remove autofill information and login storage.

Your plan admin controls Dashlane's autofill and auto-login features. If you notice that autofill isn't working on a website, your admin might have paused autofill for that website or IP address.
My browser already autofills my data. Do I turn off the browser autofill?
The major web browsers—Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, and Apple Safari—have built-in technology for generating, storing, and autofilling login details. Dashlane provides these features and more while also securing your data with the highest level of encryption.
After you import your logins into Dashlane, we recommend that you turn off your built-in browser password manager, delete any saved logins in your browser, and store your logins exclusively in Dashlane.

I saved a login to my Personal Space, and it ended up in my Business Space. What should I do?
Some accounts have the Spaces feature. If your account has Spaces, your admin can force all of your logins with work-related domains into your Business Space and prevent you from exporting them if you leave the plan. You can move any logins that don't include work-related domains to your Personal Space at any time.
